jump
Metallica had the whole Big 4 gimmick though, the only way this booking can be justified is if they release new material or they have their own gimmick such as Knotfest. GuitarManDan15
http://knotfest.com/ deftones got to be a pretty good shout top sub slipknot, obviously friends, deftones with a new album would be big enough. I suppose a few other bands from this will pop up on the slipknot day, i know a few played last year but i guess gojira, maybe serj and possibly cannibal corpse
jump
It seems such a waste to have them this year. I know they're popular with the download audience but they'll only be more in demand next year. Having three metal headliners will surely rule out so many people, it put me off going. Obviously there are other stages but for over £200 I'd want to be excited by least 1 big money name.

Andre91
Deftones under Slipknot makes sense, can see that happening. What other subs do we think we will get?
GuitarManDan15
Just read deftones toured with system in america this summer, makes serj more likely i suppose, they are also touring with scars on broadway, they could be there aswell. However i think if SonB and Serj were both there every man and his dog would claim to know about a secret SOAD set

Dan R
No offence but if metal headliners put you off why go to Download in the 1st place?
GRichards23
Slipknot Deftones Iron Maiden QOTSA Rammstein Evanescence
Sparticus
Impressive set of headliners, and I would bet on it selling out next year, but it kind of sums up download as a festival. There's no diversity, it's either out and out metal/ classic rock headliners, or dance acts frequently played in rock nightclubs. Guessing they must have thrown some serious cash around at the headliners.

Andre91
Hopefully Evanescence's 'long break' will actually be forever.
2rare2die
So the three most popular bands on the headliners poll are actually headlining, what are the odds? (And is AP really AC?! )

Hazz
hmmm can see evanescence subbing but i reckon with the bigger shows in the uk soon i reckon they are in for a shout at a second stage headlining spot
mrtourette
It was on the homepage of efestivals so he must have been pretty sure to do that. Even for a strong rumour they are nmormally 90% sure.
jump
This. Massively. Edit: that said, I don't mind them headlining the second stage opposite Maiden. Though are they still at that sort of level? I genuinely have no idea.
eFestivals
I don't think Vodafone leaking Pearl Jam was actually Copping trying to mess with efest. Neither do I. I'd put money on PJ being booked for Soni, and that being the reason.
eFestivals
No they didn't say it was definite. But they must have been 99.9% sure for them to run it as a story on their homepage. Efests gets lots of false claims from people all over the place with regards who is playing festivals which is why they take care before they publish anything. The fact this story was leaked from Vodafone is probably the main reason they printed it. You would have thought that Vodafone would have been a pretty safe source. which is exactly what we thought (along with everyone else). They've 'leaked' names before of festivals they are partners too, and have always been correct before. So there's a reason why they were wrong this time, and I doubt it was because they guessed who the headliner was themselves.

eFestivals
Would Download really feed them false info? I'm not sure Vodafone would appreciate being made to look stupid in front of their customers. Thew whole things just feels very odd. The whole thing defo feels odd. I'm not sure if Download would feed them false info, but they must have got that info from somewhere. And just as I think they wouldn't appreciate being fed false info, I think just as much that they wouldn't put out info they couldn't be sure of.
