brfcstar
Looks like its a bad year for festivals could be the start of a decline in attendances.

eFestivals
Looks like its a bad year for festivals could be the start of a decline in attendances. the decline started 5+ years ago. Where have you been?
oneeye
Agreed; decline/demise of some festivals has started, but is anyone really surprised? The paying punter is fed up with being ripped off by the greed that has crept into the festival industry. I don't dispute the requirement for some commercialism, but all too often nowadays it's too much. If people are paying £200 + for entertainment then a few return to basics are needed; 1. Security - some festivals are better than others - everyone should feel safe and secure. Lock ups should be free (I know that a few do offer, but most don't). 2. Food/Alcohol - has become a joke at a majority of festivals, with prices being pushed up ever higher for what is quite often crap food. What is it about beer tokens; that means queuing twice for a pint. I'm also fed up with the excuses of licencing laws meaning no alcohol in the arena areas, talk about a captive audience. 3. Tickets - the quoted ticket price should include booking/postage/handling fee, and stop pushing up the price to park a car/campervan in a field! 4. Put the customer first; people will come back year after year if they experience a great time and value for money. Rant over; apologies for the negativity, but I do feel that the Glasto set up could be used as the template for organising/running other festivals. (Just my humble opinion) There; now when are we going to get another V announcement?

efcfanwirral
I assumed it had sold out but looking at See Tickets there are tickets for pretty much whatever you want still. Neil - out of curiosity how are the Staffs ticket sales going? are they OK or really bad? Just wondering if this may tie in with your "big news"... luckysalt
I think of all he festivals, V has the least to worry about, 2 day fest but they charge what three day fest do, don't have as many stages, have no nighttime entertainment. They must have the most money coming in, with the least going out. Plus its always a top seller, Reading and Leeds struggled last year, V pretty much sold out instantly, plus their sales are healthly, tickets only went on sale last month and yet its now sold out on see tickets, when I started going V it sold out right before the festival and the capacity was much smaller than it is today.
