I think the probably here was the sweeping generalisation that all Foos albums are dull, which is so vague and general that it sounds like someone is trolling or hasn't really listened to all seven albums in depth and is just making a passing criticism.

No, but when I do I expect to be pulled up for it.

Also your point's irrelevant as he said all Foos albums are dull, so he must have listened to all of them. I wasn't saying that he hasn't, just that the vague dismissive nature made it sound like he hadn't and therefore may have caused some of the backlash.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind Foo Fighters but they strike me as a standard rock band for people who haven't greatly explored to genre of Rock. This comment is likely to get alot of abuse but have they actually released an album that is critically acclaimed? I can't help but feel a lot of their early success was based on Dave's involvement in Nirvana

Critically acclaimed? 11 Grammys sounds pretty good, 5 of which for last years albums/singles.

Some will argue Dave's involvement with Nirvava improved the overall sound. I think his involvement in Nirvana made it harder for him to achieve success

So you claiming to explored more rock than the average Foo Fighter fan?

Pull you head from your arse, Foo Fighters are one of the best rock bands about at the moment.

Standard rock band? You can say that about any rock

You seem to be overly defensive about Foo Fighters. They have released some very good albums, but they also have released some very average albums, Grohl's even stated he wasn't happy with one by one. Each album though has produced big singles which is where a lot of their popularity is from, which also makes them an almost perfect festival band to do greatest hits sets.

I think his involvement with Nirvana did help them get started while being in the public eye, but they've built themselves up on their own merit, and weren't headlining festivals over here until they'd been together about 7 years i think.

I think it would be a fair assumption to say a lot of people on a music festival forum would listen to a wider range of music than your average fan, though not sure what that really has to do with anything.

They latest album put them at their peak atm, and they're a very good live band, but it's pointless saying they're one of the best because that's completely subjective.
