I agree entirely. Once the novelty of tweeting all the celebrities that I fancy to tell them I love them (without reply) wore off, I never bothered again.

Twitter and facebook are shite. I used to like the old school chatrooms though about 10 years ago, now they were weird places

Not really. The jury may well have thought the first defendant had a case for presuming consent yet that presumption would change when a second bloke has a go.

far less than I view facebook as a threat. At least it's easyish to follow something over an amount of time with facebook, it's almost impossible with twitter.

Horses for courses vs trendy things is a very long running theme on the net, and the trendy things haven't won out yet and I very much doubt they ever will. The likes of Facebook only work if everyone that is online is doing everything exclusively within facebook, which will never happen. As soon as someone goes outside of facebook - and they always will - then everything that facebook does do loses a small part of its appeal.

I never realised how many people I knew that were in fact utter cretins until Facebook came along. I stopped using it years ago.

There will always be a place for like minded nerds to get together and discuss crap while they are at work. Facebook you just dont get to "meet" a broad range of people unlike public forums like this

I would not really class that as stalking myself.

Stalking on the internet was (and still is) a real problem for me. I have a guy that has been following me for years and still does. It did get malicious for a while but then everything backfired on him so he could not cause shit anymore.

A good one was when he tried to get me done for threatening to kill him and harassment. I admitted it all but it was the police that pointed out it cant be harassment as if was the one often ringing me. I

I never knew how many compromising photos there were of me before. I'm generally too busy having a good time when I'm out to notice people taking pictures of me doing something stupid.

Facebook isn't for the like-minded though? It's just for publishing the parts of your life you want to pretend are real to people you vaguely know. Most of the people I 'communicate' with on facebook I do so in other places as well.

I just thought facebook was a gathering place for people you know "in real life" (no matter how tenuously).

Places like this are where you meet a much broader range of people from all walks of life, united by one common interest. I just cant see how facebook can do the same (unless it's changed a lot from when I used it, which was just to look at girls I used to go to school with's holiday photos)

and on the rape case, I was also confused, someone tweeted me this morning and apparently she consented with the first guy while drunk....then while she was unconscious the other one came in. Not sure where they picked up from though as I've not read it anywhere.

Since this law came in, I've knocked back a couple of girls who wanted to come home with me because they were really drunk, and I can say I've been in that situation as a man being too drunk to remember (I woke up with a girl and can honestly say I haven't got a clue how I got there or to this day if we had sex) I'm not playing down what happened as rape is horrible but these prosecutions via the victim not remembering if they consented or not rather than something more clear cut make me feel a little uncomfortable but I can honestly say I can think of a better way of protecting vulnerable women.
