Anybody else bumped into someone famous then? I met Hughie Green (Paula Yates's father) when I was a a kid at school. A traffic cop had pulled somebody over on the opposite side of the road. Then Hughie pulled over in a green Jaguar got out and started talking to the cop. The cop was mesmerised (this was at the height of Opportunity Knocks) by Hughie and didn't see that Hughie was using one hand to wave the other bloke away. The bloke finally got the picture jumped into his car and drove off leaving Hughie and the cop talking. The conversation ended, the cop looked around and gone was the person he pulled over. Hughie just jumped back into his Jag and drove off. What a stunt to pull off. Me and my brothers were at a bus stop opposite watching all this go on, also mesmerised, but by Hughie's actions rather than the man himself.

I realise that most if not all of you will have never heard of this bloke but I felt the need to tell you the story anyway. Apologies if I've wasted moments of your life which you'll never get back.

I've met Bob Geldoff, v. briefly. Noel Gallagher very briefly - both to say hello to really, they did return the gesture, so I count that as meeting.

I met Simon Pegg at a festival, had a good chat with him, wasn't as nice as I expected him to be, probably because I was drunk and he was a punter with his wife so didn't want the hassel. Still, I expected him to be really cool but he just came across as grumpy

I met Jarvis Cocker on Totnes train station a year ago or so. Had a good 10 minute chat with him while waiting for the train. Really nice guy. Then he went into first class. C*nt

Met Suggs a few times, We used to have the same local (The Pineapple in Kentish Town). Trigger from Only Fools used to go in there sometimes as well.

Met Lord Robert Winston on more than one occasion. He was a lecturer at my uni. He almost ran me over once, which he appologised for.

Met Zane Lowe on a couple of occasions. Used to live on my street. Prick.

Ed Milliband lives just round the corner from my old place too. Used to always see him going to the shop. Never met him though, never really wanted to.

I met Andrew Marr at glastonbury once. Super nice guy. Oh, and Minty from Eastenders while he was absolutely leathered in Camden. Used to see loads of famous people out and about in London actually, (e.g. Winehouse on several occasions, John barnes another personal highlight)

I don't blame you for keeping those details quiet. He's certainly had some life that's for sure.

Actually, 'met' was an over-statement really. I was in the same room.

I met Jarvis at a Tom Tom Club gig in London about 10 years ago now. He was stood talking with Chris Frantz after the show, the only two in the main room (one of the Camden venues, forget which). I walked over and Chris (who I'd never met, but had interviewed on the phone) stuck out his hand and said "hello Neil". I got Jarvis to take a photo of Chris & me (it's crap).

Amy Crackbucket pushed past me to get to the bar at Glasto on one of her more wasted days.

Peter Gabriel gave me a nod and a 'hello mate' at a petrol station.

They're all rubbish. The one I do like is my nieces being featured in The Chemical Brothers visuals for their Glasto 2000 headline show.

If only, on one sunny afternoon in Soho, I had decided to walk with my friend a little bit further after leaving the pub instead of heading to the nearest tube, I too would have met Robert Plant and got my picture with him. That will haunt me for the rest of my life. I'd give them all up for that.

My mate still every now and then plops that picture of him and Robert Plant all smiley and buddy in my email inbox. Mates can be c*nts (I'd do the same though)

I locked John Terry in a car park about a year ago. Good times. Other than Chelsea players (who i have no interest in seeing, but do, regularly, cant move for the fuckers round here!) I never meet anyone famous. My mate's got a theory that there are two types of people - those who meet famous people when out and about and those who see people they know. I'm the latter, which is boring to be honest!
