Is Fb hip? Seems like EoTR prefer it than chatting to us old gits on here. Anyway they are asking their Bella Union Hipster fans what surprises they have discovered at EoTR, artistwise. Bob Log gets a lot of mentions. I know when I saw him he seemed fun, but I cannot say I took it too seriously.

I was thinking I end up doing so much research in past years that I haven't had many surprise discoveries recently. Anyone got any bands that they stumbled upon at the festival?? And who is Bob Log?

Hey, I answered that FB survey! And I'm not a hipster!

My answer there, The Duke & The King (thanks to Geofelgie's recommendation). That' the main one that I wasn't planning on seeing, but discovered more by chance.

If I count bands that I started listening to because they'd been announced for EoTR, it would be at least 20, ranging from the Low Anthem to Other Lives to Slow Down, Molasses. (Once I'm back in New Zealand in a year or two I'll still be checking this forum and the EoTR announcements, just so I can discover new bands )

So thats double points for Hipster Infinite jest. The Duke and the King was probably my favourite thing ever, but I had played the album to death the week before. My biggest discovery was when I wandered into the garden stage and heard THE WAVE PICTURES for the first time.

To be honest I haven't really made that many big discoveries at End of the Road because I usually listen to all the bands before the festival. I did really enjoy Steve Smyth last year though having only heard one song beforehand, and the festival also managed to rekindle my love for Deer Tick (even though the new album is pretty bad).
