gazza_20
Utter madness. The guy's just had a #1 album fer crissakes.
jump
Indeed, and over taking Adele's 21 album which like it or not is a bloody HUGE achievement. I'd say R&L need to give him sub at least. He's only playing 3rd at Wertcher, but I'm not sure how big he is there. But Number 1 albums in UK/US says it all really. He'd be massive for the fest to get and the headliner would need to be huge for him to sub to them. Out of what's being knocked about, Blur is the option, I can't see BP, BC or even The Killers and it won't be a metal headliner.

mrtourette
I can't see any of them headlining the FR if I'm honest.
gazza_20
Why is that an achievement? Her album has been out since last year so only so many people can buy it before it loses steam.

Gingo
How is it not? Where was the last person to knock someone of with that many weeks at the top? They hadn't till his debut album. And let's not be silly, Adele's 21 has broken stupid records set by others that are huge in music, she hasn't lost her steam at all. His album is just superb and finally did it. Why efestivals liked your post god only knows.

Why efestivals liked your post god only knows. Because he's spot on. while being number one is a decent achievement (note: crap acts get to be number 1), 21 is an old album, it won't be shifting huge numbers now. The fact that it's back at number one gets to say that nothing is selling hugely at the moment - and so it's currently possible to get to number one with comparatively low sales compared to at other times (such as when 21 was no.1 first time round). Here's betting that most of those Adele sales are people downloading the first bit of music (and for some, the only bit of music ) to their new phones. Muppets. Justiceforcedave
So is there any room for Mr White to slot in on the mainstage somewhere? Seems so weird that he's only playing Hackney weekend!
gazza_20
Sigh, since the release of her album... Basiclly when there's not a new album out Adele goes to number 1. *edit* http://en.wikipedia....m_the_2010s_(UK) I can't copy and paste the list from wiki but there's been over 30 other albums that have overtaken her's since it's release in Jan 2011. jump
It's not just being number 1? Through every other person, I can't see who has been there with an album longer than the beatles for that long overall? and I might be reading it wrong, but there is a slight hint in your words that you feel her recorded at number 1 is undeserved as it is crap? eFestivals
and I might be reading it wrong, but there is a slight hint in your words that you feel her recorded at number 1 is undeserved as it is crap? That's not what I was trying to imply. (Tho I do think it's crap, lowest common denominator music.) I was simply pointing out that being number 1 is a sign of musical popularity and not musical quality.

jonodillieono
O I agree number 1 says that, but for 11 weeks straight and then back and fourth on occasions says more than that IMO. Also fairplay if that's your view on the record, but I think for anyone to question her talent and voice she has is a billy silly, but again that is my opinion and we all have one, Edited May 2, 2012 by jonodillieono
Spud001
Last week Feeder's new album outsold Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band in sales for that week, is that an achievement?

I've said she produces lowest common denominator music. As for her voice, me saying that she sings in tune is as far as I can go. There's fuck all depth to her voice and nothing about it to make it stand out from the crowd. It's music for Westlife fans, for people who don't like music. (Perhaps I should lay off Brit school graduates seeing as I've got three family members who are just that, one of which is seen on TV quite often and who is becoming quite a heart-throb with the laydees ). jump
I don't think you understand. The album has been out for over a year, virtually everybody who wants the album already has it. It isn't some type of achievement outselling an album what has been out for so long. Last week Feeder's new album outsold Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band in sales for that week, is that an achievement?
gazza_20
She has just beat Mj for UK's biggest selling album ever and only below Queen, The Beatles, Abba and Oasis for best selling albums of all time. Maybe overtaking her isn't the biggest thing but to say she's lost the steam is silly I think.
Whittick
Truth is that the reason she is popular is because she's fat and sings on a chair, unlike the Nicki Minaj's and Jessie J's. I can't stand her, personally.
