We've just opened a new Vinyl Record Shop in Barry (20 mins from Cardiff) called : Retro-Vibe Music. We will be stocking CD's and Merchandise but right now we have 60,000 Vinyl Records to sort through ranging from Classical to Heavy Metal. New 180gm Records will be in stock from next month and we'll be cheaper than the 'high street' chains ! All vinyl / cds will be available to order via telephone so if there is anything you are looking for please don't hesitate to contact us as we can mail it to you.

give the guy a break...good independent record shops aren't easy to find, so rather than jump down his throat, it might be more appropriate to give him a word of encouragement. Whatever you might think of spamming the boards, it's hardly a crime against humanity and for a site with a passing interest in music, it is at least relevant

But what if your views on spamming are that it's a disfiguration of the forum - for example. Although most would agree that good (we don't actually know if this shop falls into this category) independent record shops aren't easy to find should they necessarily be able to override the rules because of this ( I am assuming that self advertising is against the rules on this forum). Where do you stop and who draws the line? Obviously Neil has drawn it on this one because he hasn't zapped the original post. You could get charities posting all day and night for example, which while virtuous I don't think anybody would want to see happen.

look I get the idea that spamming isnt a great thing, my point is just that rather than jumping on the bloke like he's just cut a swathe down the local high street with a scimitar, a more reasonable response might have been something like "although we dont like people who spam the boards, best of luck..."

he didn't, but some spamming is far more appropriate than others. This one falls that way.
