Camping about to sell out

John Probyn the COO of Live Nation and head honcho of Download and Andy Coping Downloads booker have both gone on record today and said Camping is about to sell out.

So if you haven't got a ticket id sort it out pronto.

I know John said yesterday he thinks he has found another field, but this may not come to pass, so I wouldn't risk it.

If you want to go, I wouldn't wait around, I reckon they'll be sold out by the weekend

Just out of curiousity, which years has download sold out? AC said that 3 out of the last 5 have so im guessing they were 07,09, and 10.

People seem to be thinking that DL will be miles better off without competition from Soni, but apart from last year it didnt seem to show signs of struggling at all. In fact it seems to have grown as a festival since Soni started if anything.

It expanded a couple of years ago didn't it?

I don't think DL will be miles better off, but there will be some who choose between them, and some for whom the big names being concentrated in one festival will incline them towards getting a ticket (like me).

for me personally, its down to the strength of the line up. ive never been before, and bought a ticket after machine head, soundgarden etc were announced. i doubt i would of gone if the lineup wasnt that great, and im sure this is probably the biggest factor in the fact that so many tickets have been sold.

There's no way Download could be as strong next year, for one its gunna have to have a lot of repeat bookings and there's just not than many huge acts around. If Soni isn't back, potentially Download could get Iron Maiden - Slipknot - Van Halen as headliners.

Iron Maiden it would have been 6 years since they played last, Slipknot 4 years and Van Halen have never played.

But then it comes down to subs, Biffy and Soundgarden are huge subs. Headliner quality and then you have arena acts like Machinehead and Tenacious D third down and Megadeth.

Saturday's are always are gonna have an upper hand though. People can get to and from the festival without having to take days off. Metallica and Biffy are big draws too.

Of course time off work around download has been harder this year with the two days off for the jubilee, at my place there is a load of people off either side of that bank holiday, I booked it on the first day back to work after Xmas when the new holiday cards came out.

I can see Sunday selling out this week, Friday im not sure will sell out, it may be The Prodigy's only UK date but they aren't pushing the new album so the demand might not be there and Chase n Status have toured lots too and Machine Head had their arena tour 6 months ago that didn't sell out, suppose Slash could have an impact on sales however, its his only date and his new album has just come out
