Best performances you've ever seen

V probably isn't the best place to see 'Prophets, really (haven't been myself, but it doesn't seem like the ideal type of crowd). And they were kinda mediocre last time they played Reading, which I think put a lot of people off them. But they have been really amazing at some of their own shows I've gone to. Same thing with Paramore, actually. I'm hoping they can pull off an MCR this year and win over the naysayers.

What have previous Bjork sets been like? I really didn't enjoy her Biophilia show last year and that was the first time I saw her. (didn't help that it hadn't been released yet). I'm curious as to what she's been like before and whether it's worth going to see her on another tour, because I love her on record.

I said before her bestival show that I cant really see how biophillia was going to work on a big festival mainstage and people were thinking she would do a greatest hits set, bjork never does a greatest hits set. Its close to spiritual for me so im probably not the best person to ask, for example shes only ever done oh so quiet a couple of times in this country.

Dont know if you have sky but her live gig from paris is on there alot, best place to start as thats fantastic.

BUt if your after a bjork greatest hits set, its never going to happen.

Muse (glasto 10) - glasto anniversary year, great crowd, amazing atmosphere, great performance

Oasis (heaton park 09) - home town gig, gold circle and support from the enemy and kasabian

Prodigy (Doncaster dome) - mega small venue, right crowd (old prodigy fans), brutal mosh pits

Gaslight Anthem (newcastle academy) - my fav small/medium sized bands in an amazing venue. The bar is so close to the stage +++++

Foo Fighters (milton keynes) - seen them mutli times but this is my fav due to amount of friends enjoying it in one space.

Kanye west (manchester 07) - amazing performance, literally days after his mother had died so emotional for him, jay-z surprise appearance, support acts estelle and common, kanyes dj was a trak at the time

Madness (leeds fest 11) - near perfect fest performance.

Weezer (leeds fest 10) - as above, great crowd and energetic performance

Dizzee Rascal (Doncaster dome) - mega small venue and banter with dizzee

Dont know if this counts, anyway - Kasabian (local hotel) staying there due to local concert. All pissed (us and few band members) acoustic sing along (any song you can think of apart from there own)

Chase & Status (glasto shangri la) - as a matter of fact anything in shangri la

So many great gigs, probably forgot a few. A lot of mine are local bands in near by pubs as well

In Order of awesome-ness

1. NIN - Wave Goodbye 2009 @ the O2

2. Iron Maiden - 2005 Reading

3. RATM - Finsbury Park 2009

4. Weezer - Reading 2010

5. The Bronx - Reading 2011

NIN because They are my favourite band, favourite music, best possible setlist and was a fine way to celebrate my 18th with a few buddies, a few brews and the music I had loved ever since...

Iron Maiden. Up until that point, it was the greatest thing I had ever seen, their 2005 gig has been the benchmark of music ever since. This gig single-handedly shifted everything I knew/thought about heavier music.

RATM because not only was it free, it was one of the best live performances I have ever seen. They poured their heart, soul and money into thanking a crowd that chose them as an anti-...something. I don't really care for what cause it was, I did help if that matters, but the main thing for me was that It showed a band In their twilight years that a lot of people cared. As a extremely jaded person, this made me happy.

Weezer because of the energetic performance of rivers and the gang. I don't care what anyone says, they were the true headliners of Reading 2010.

The Bronx, I don't know what it was, the noise, the sound, the crowd? I don't know. It just had something, that something made it one of the greatest (in a long line) of gigs I have ever seen.

Rammstein - Wembley arena '10.

Faith No More - Download '09.

Less Than Jake/Dropkick Murphys/ The Living End - Newcastle Academy

Was just an awesome gig, with great sets from each band.

Faith No More - Download/Leeds 2009

Can't decide between the 2 sets, both were brilliant.

Rage Against The Machine - Finsbury Park 2009

As other have said, was just a great atmosphere, they genuinely seemed grateful to the crowd and just put on an insane set, where the crowd knew every word and everything just came together. And it was free!

Madness - T in the Park 2010

Wasn't sure how it would be but spent the evening dancing away to some classics and everyone there seemed to have the same attitude, it was just great fun.

The Prodigy - MK Bowl 2010

Had seen Prodigy before and they didn't really impress, but they really pulled out all the stops for the show, was amazing.

Arcade Fire - Leeds 2010

Nuff Said

Weezer - Leeds 2010

Rivers Cuomo is one of the best frontmen I've ever seen.

Goldfinger - Slam Dunk Leeds 2011

It's very rare that I've seen a band put so energy into a show. The balcony dive was brilliant.

Pulp - Glastonbury 2011

Wasn't a huge fan before, was after.

Queens of the Stone Age - Glastonbury 2011

Just a sublime set, convinced me that they will become headliners.

Foo Fighters - T in the Park 2011

Just played a brilliant set, full of hits and crowd interaction. They even came onstage early so they could play for longer. I really don't care if they're the same to every crowd, but they do make every show feel special and this was just a perfect end to the festival.

Muse - Leeds 2011

OoS half anyway, fora band who seem to churn out almost identical shows constantly they really managed something special.

Pulp - Leeds 2011

Jarvis is god.

Really? I was right at the front and i'd say it's one of the least enjoyable shows I've seen, I appreciated how good they were but it seemed exactly the same as when I saw them at V but the crush was horrendous. It took all the fun out of it, but even at that when I crowd surfed out and watched it from the back I found it a bit dull?

Maybe just me but I know not everyone was that blown away

I'm a fan, but I don't really listen to them as much as many people do. They seem to have a cult effect on people

I reckon it's purely because of where I was, at the front no one was enjoying it because of the crush, and at the back no one was really that bothered, I imagine it would have been marvellous near the middle

I'm tempted to try avoid making the same mistake for Foo's this year, but like Elbow and Interpol I'll just be desperate to get to the front for Black Keys! Hahaa

Definitely. I thought the performances in the second half were good, but it's the same as any Muse show. Also, I'd have loved to have seen them in their prime, but I'm not old enough, so I'll have to make do. :P

I was there and it was great. Went their spur of the moment a got 3 tickets of a tout for just over face value. They played close to 3 hours from what I remember and I nearly missed the metro back home. Great performance, the guitarist looked well pissed, when he climbed the speaker stack I thought for sure help was going to fall.

In general it's quite interesting to see how many people have been to the same gigs on here.

I went with a few friends who got me tickets for my b'day. I thought we was just going for a night around newcastle but they had got me tickets as surprise. Its def the best performance I've seen them play.

They seemed to be on stage for ages, they kept the energy of the gig throughout and engaged with the crowd a lot. On record and live in the right venue/ on the right stage they are perfect imperfection
