Bit of a 'worst kept secret' but I'm really pleased ... just beginning to worry about potential clashes! also looking forward to seeing Roy Harper again - not in the least surprised that Jonathan Wilson's said he'll be appearing with Roy. Jonathan supported Roy at the Festival Hall last year and has been working with him for a while.

Patti Smith played the very first Latitude back in 2006. One of the subsidiary benefits was her guitarist (Lenny Kaye) doing a thing in the literature tent where he talked about the famous "nuggets" album, and played some songs on an acoustic guitar. It was one of my favourite things of the festival, he's a very interesting, articulate story teller. Fingers crossed for something like that this year at EOTR!

Got to say that I went to see Patti Smith on the first night of her tour in Wolverhampton not expecting a huge amount, but she and her band were fantastic. Played new and old stuff including Because the Night and Gloria. We came out thinking that we'd just seen a legend and she'll be just right for EoTR, esp if its the Garden Stage

According to the official EOTR email announcement Patti Smith will be on the Woods stage...

"As you can imagine, we are all very excited by the addition of this incredible artist to our line up and cannot wait to see her perform on our new 'Woods' stage, which was added to the festival site last year."

"Patti Smith and her band will be playing before Grandaddy on the Sunday night".

Agree, that livens it up no end and its nice to hear lots of positive comments from people who have seen her recently. I was never a Grandaddy fan so I still have to investigate, but some good old tunes from Patti will certainly keep me happy!

A great coup for the festival I thought. Having just read abit more about her in last months Uncut I'm quite excited - can't say I knew too much about her before, except for Michael Stipe's worship of her. In fact, did see her sing with REM once too.

Most excited about Alabama Shakes, Anna Calvi, and First Aid Kit. LOVE all those albums. Alabama Shakes has barely left the turntable so far this 'summer'.

:-)

Patti Smith seems a great addition, I only really know Horses but it's such a great album and have only heard very positive things about her live show. Are we to assume she'll play before Grandaddy on the main stage on the Sunday? Could be one hell of an end to the festival!

So the line-up seems pretty full bar the Thursday night acts, which I guess we won't hear much about in advance but will no doubt be the next source of wild rumours!

Also really pleased about the return of HDIF, at least it ensures there will be some great dancing done in the wee hours.
