This will be my first year at Reading and so I'm wondering, as I keep hearing 'mystery guest slots' being batted about, if this is a real thing? And if so, are they big guests e.g. 3rd or 4th from top, or farely small acts at the start?

There's one in the lock up, probably 2nd from top. That's all there is I think.

Unless there's someone playing another festival who can't be announced until after that festival. Tenacious D were rumoured to be added once Download has finished, however it's looking like this may not be the case now as there doesn't appear to be space for them. But they may be added, just got to wait and see. :)

on some of the tv adverts i've seen lately they advertise the headliners 2nd and 3rd main stage as well as headliners of nme apart from the sunday 3rd main stage where vaccines aren't. thought that was weird. maybe post download tenacious d maybe added?

on the other hand they may of simply just left the vaccines off

Oh right I never knew that Reading didn't have music on the Thursday. Im quite sure that it was unanounced they were at their peak in popularity at that time, its usually acts the size of get cape wear cape fly on the Thursday I think,i remember watching that 1 year, think that was 2010

So with Crowns being added to the Lock Up Stage (opening on the Friday Leeds/Sunday Reading) it would appear that all the slots are now filled and there will not be a Special Guest appearance.

I cannot see anyone other major bands such as NoFx or Tenacious D being added to the line up now, sadly.
