I thought even the missed pens were good ones, the 1st two were struck with power in the corner, and the goalies did brilliantly to save them. Bruno Alves' head probably struggled with the being told to go back, but it was only fractionally on the woodwork.

And yeah, Ronaldo is a twat who wants the glory too much.

Ronaldo, as well as being an incredibly talented footballer is also guilty of being in possesion of one of the most unlikable qualities in a footballer - vanity. Every time he stands still he is striking some kind of pensive pose for the cameras, he loves himself to such a degree that it is deeply unpleasant. We can all see that he took the decision he was going to take the 5th penalty, and grab the headlines and photo opportunities, and now he looks like a complete tit because his vanity caused the loss. you let the big boys go first, its not that hard.

Cantona was arrogant, he was guilty of puffing his chest up, he often came out with some incredible bullshit - but fucking hell he did the job properly. Ronaldo take note.

I hope Germany win as I think they deserve 1 after 3 top 4 finishes in a row. I still have a feeling Spain will pull it off, with 2 similar ability teams I often look at the keeper to seperate the 2 and I would trust Casillas above Neuer in either normal time or penalties. Spaind dont look like scoring many goals but they dont look like conceding either and I think it would be a close game.

for the goalies to come into play, they have to be tested.

I can't see how Spain are going to test Neuer.

Not necesarily, its possible to not have a shot on goal and win on penalties. Spain have a record of not conceding in knockout games, a run which has seen them beat germany twice. The spanish players are also used to winning big games, while some of the German players have at times come a little short in big matches. I certainly wouldnt count the German out but I think people are underestimating how efficent a tournament team the spanish are.

given how easily Portugal got at them last night, I can't see Germany not scoring.

Usually their trick is 75%+ possession and incredibly hard-working pressing when off the ball. Kept to under 60%, they struggled more, and the opposition got more chances. Casillas wasn't tested because of the poor shooting ability of the Portuguese, Almeida was guilty as well as Skippy.

Also, I don't reckon Neuer's that bad, OK, he's not Casillas, but he's still a top keeper. He looked excellent for Bayern against Real.
