Best band at Download for me, and the one I was most looking forward to (which is saying something with Sabbath, Metallica and the like on the lineup).

Played a blinding set (almost totally forgot we had New Noise to come at the end) and looking really energetic and like they enjoyed themselves. Gutted they're not playing a Scottish venue.

they were never a big band but their popularity raised after they split up.Their album 'shape of punk to come' is widely regarded as a classic but most didnt listen to the album until they had split up.

i think the crowd was smaller than expected due to the fact that many left to get a good spot for soundgarden and sabbath(this is backed up by the fact that the dropkicks would normally have got a bigger crowd than they did). Also, its more punk/hardcore fans that are excited about the refused re-union rather than the metallers at download.

i think if they were on the lock up in reading or one of the punk festivals then many fans would say they are the band they are looking forward to most.

I know who Refused and if they stayed together long enough they may have been bigger instead of splitting a month or two after it was released blah blah but they split up 15ish years ago with an almost non-existent fan base and despite Shape being "popular" within the small hardcore punk scene their other albums aren't no where near as popular even in the the small hardcore punk scene.

They are on par with a band the size of Thrice, Sikth or Against Me and not Rancid or NoFX. I've been finding their new fans funny tho claiming they are too big and will only play mainstage etc basing their popularity on their 3 month old knowledge of the band.

Spot on with your comments, have you seen this video of them playing Rock am Ring?

The crowd is fairly big and the band sound great but the majority of people have not got a clue who the f*ck they are.

I really cannot understand why the band have not been booked to headline the Lock Up Stage at Reading and Leeds, that would be a perfect audience for them?

Ok, so I ordered my tickets in the presale this morning, fairly sure i selected standing but I've just received an email confirmation which implies I've purchased seated tickets. Anyone else have a similar problem? Or is it possible that I really did select seated tickets? Really not a band I wanna be sitting down watching :/
