Anyone else slumming it?

I've seen a few mentioning being is hospitality but we're going to be slumming it in standard camping. Who else is in the same boat? Maybe we can try and get our tents near each other for some bonus banter!

Keep an eye open mate there is a facebook group who go every year from here and all stick together "Camp Sheen"

Awesome I'll keep an eye open! Was acutally considering making my own facebook group to try and get a camp going once I got familiar with the community but if there is a camp already in place i'll just keep my eyes peeled for that! Cheers for the info lad!

As Disco says, search for camp sheen on FB and you should find them. We'll be lording it up in Hospitality but will take time out to have a meetup with the commoners!!

Hey.

I ran Camp Sheen last year and something similar the year before.

Unfortunately I'm unlikely to be doing anything similar this year. Last year was a bit of a disaster. Basically its very hard to keep everyone happy. After organising the whole thing I arrived with knackered people carrying a shedload of camping gear etc.

It meant that nobody was willing to walk as far as the camp spot I had pre-arranged. This was coupled with me getting wrong info from a security guy telling me some of the sites weren;t up and running at that point.

I ended up getting very wound up and upsetting others through not meeting at the pre-arranged spot. I had exchanged numbers and everything and txted folk at the time telling them where our new spot was. So I had one group of folk pulling me one way and one another. Then others started txting saying they were camping at other places. I think there ended up being a load of smaller seperate camps instead of the 1 monster camp intended. It very hard to reserve good festival real estate unless everyone is arriving at a similar time.

Basically it all went to shit and I felt I let everyone down.

The only way I'd do it again this year would be if I had a few others to take some of the load off me. I'm definately not attempting to organise a camp group solo again. It would probably need a team, and for everyone in that 'team' to arrive at the same time. Ideally outside the gates.

Also, anyone heading from Bristol? If I was travelling in with someone who wanted to help with a camp group it would make things easier.

@Disco_Fudge, myself and a mate are heading over for the first time the idea of a big camp group sounds neat... We are doing the 3DayCamping and most definitely will be there at opening!

From a security point of view its always better to have a big camp group too. Means there is more likely to be someone on 'base', which normally puts off potential thieves.

Swore I'd never do this again. Couldn't have really meant it though as I've been talked round pretty easily!

Lucac94 if you can fit the tent in your bag u can take it with you. Some of the cheaper tents have long poles so they will not fit in hand luggage. Saw this happen last year. As for gazebo's if u want to get 1 u can nip to argos or millets or cotswoldoutdoor. all are in the centre of Manchester. Gonna see what im like for weight first but will deff try to get 1

Only take what u cant buy over their. things like wet wipes, vit-c tabs,bog roll, food, air bed etc can b got very easily n cheaply in manchester on the fri morning. Your gonna have plenty of time to kill b4 you leave for the camp site. I took 3 x t-shirts, 1 x shorts, 2 x jeans, 1 x hoodie, more than enough underwear n socks(Do not underestimate how many sock u will need if its cold like last year) for the site n what i was wearing over. Had jeans, t-shirt, underwear in a black bag for the trip home. Try and keep 10-20 quid spar just in case u need shoes for the journey home or have a spare set of trainers with u.

I'm willing to help with the camp in any way I can (Just requested to join on FB, my name is Martin). Unfortunately I'm only doing 2 day camping so wont be arriving until Saturday. Also I'm coming down on the train from Edinburgh then getting a bus to the campsite so no doubt will have my hands full there but once I'm in and settled I don't mind helping out with anything.

Not sure if you are still needing anyone to help design a flag but I'm a graphic Design student and I'm already getting T-shirts printed for our little Edinburgh crew. - a little look at it here - http://i227.photobuc...549535946_n.jpg but I could knock up a decent looking Camp Sheen flag with ol' Charlie's face on if it's wanted. The only issue would be I work digitally so although I can provide the files to whoever needs them, someone else would have to go get the print on the flag as I wont be there until Saturday which is no good. Anyway if you guys are interested let me know.

Also if you do want help with arranging things just hit me up with a private message or on facebook and I can hand out some contact details to make life easier!

Also noticed a fair few Scots members already on the group so if you like I could help out with members north of the border! Even noticed there is a guy who goes to the same Uni as me! whoops small world!
