I know its the norm on here for everyone to have a whinge and moan about how crap it was but i'm going to break the mould.

My weekend ROCKED!!!!!!!

I know lots didnt but the seven people i was with had the time of their lives.

Brilliant time with brilliant friends.drunk loads of beer, did loads of rubbish dancing but didnt care.loads of laughs.

Saw soundgarden at last(and didnt care that my old soundgarden t shirt was way too small for me).

Saw loads of great sets from loads of great bands.Met loads of people(who were also having a good time so maybe they should post on here too)

didnt care about the walks, didnt care about the mud, didnt care that i didnt get any sleep, didnt care that they ran out of chilli sauce on one of the food stalls.

now ceashed out on my sofa suffering from phsical exhuastion but dont care and am feeling preety pleased with myself taht i booked another day off tomorrow.

Did my first Donnigton in 1988,going to Reading later in the year and looking forward to that already.

Mr Copping, you may have lost some customers this year but no matter what, there'll be at least 7 of us sitting in your field next june and i cant wait.

DOWNLOAD ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had an amazing time too, felt a bit crappy on the thursday in the rain but just have awesome memories now. I couldn't even drink due to being ill, still had a great time.

The mud was very draining around the camp, so i ended up taking it easy all weekendand I do think the addition of metal tracks along the main paths in advance wouldve been a good idea. But maybe for the future. I Think the bigger issue for me was the wind, which they could do absolutely nothing about.

But once the bands started none of that really mattered, saw some amazing set that will go up with some of my favourites ever. And had a great laugh with a group of lovely people who I'd never even met before the festival.

Im not gonna be a fanboy and go for the sake of it next year, but im definitely not gonna be put off by this year. If the line-ups good ill go, same as with any festival of that size

Quite. I've got my complaints, and the mud was a big part of that, but ultimately, me and my mates all came out today saying we were delighted we'd gone, it had been a cracking weekend, and we'll consider it next year. OK, we'd rather do a diff fest that doesn't have some of the probs, but it was still awesome.

I had a good time, it's just a few small things that wound me up, but none of them were the fault of the festival itself.

Plus points for me:

- Using the shi'sha tent as a social hub, and meeting lots of awesome people (shame outside this location there were a lot of twats about)

- Guest area bar access will have to be a staple of future Downloads, the private loos, and the way that the aforementioned twats weren't in there made it a great place to escape to.

- Music - saw Fear Factory, NOFX, Machine Head, Nightwish, Slash (only caught the first 5 or so songs before deciding we were too cold and we to stay), Tenacious D, Biffy, Metallica, Megadeth, Soundgarden and Sabbath, all were thoroughly enjoyable in their own way, though nightwish's sound seemed a bit problematic from where we were sat.

- After Friday the weather was decent enough.

- managed to do the whole thing with only £40 spending money the whole weekend, and still had a good time, so I don't think the issues many have with LN's money grabbing applied to me!

Edit: I think all my issues with this year can be attributed to my own personal preferences evolving/maturing to the point I'm not as excited about the whole affair as some of the other people on site who get a bit carried away with it all!

2nd edit: the "Yes" chants made me smile :)

Having been to quite a few festivals over the years, i have probably had more wet ones than dry ones. In this country or anywhere else you can't guarantee the weather so you just have to deal with it. At the end of the day some of the land used is farm land, a few more metal tracks would be nice but i'm not really that bothered.

Apart from everything we had a great 5 days and will be back regardless.

I really enjoyed the weekend, had loads of fun, some great sets, some great people around to have a drink with.

Still don't think it lives up to 2011 though, when the highlights came on the screen before soundgarden came on, the amount of joy that came flooding back was brilliant. Maybe it's because our group was too large, or because the bands last year suited my taste better, I'd been wanting to see system for about 10 years.

It was my first festival (and one of my mates that came too) and we had a ball. Single handedly the best experience in my 33 years on this planet so far. Yes the weather was crap, the mud was annoying, the delay opening the arena on Friday a little frustrating (especially as I was looking forward to Rise to Remain and Cancer Bats) but other than that it was amazing.

And as far as Sundays go, I wish every Sunday was a good as that one. Great weather, great bands, great people, and we had an awesome spot for main stage all day.

Suffice to say, I'll be going again next year!

I thought the "Yes" chants started at Andrew WK gigs (that's the first time I've heard them), they were pretty cool imo, always got the crowd going before a big band came on.

Agree about Fenton, I think it has finally replaced "Buttscratcher" as the world's worst festival chant.
