I'm pretty sure the campsite open Monday... Wednesday's the earliest I've been there though! Ticket exchange is different at Rock am Ring to how it is over here, you set up your tent first then you find tents on the campsite to exchange them at. So no big queues coming in! To get to b5, basically when you get off your bus, walk down the road with the race track on your right hand side, you'll get to a pedestrian bridge to cross the road, do that and turn left. There's a bit of a hill, go down there and b5 is there on your left. I love it down there, always something going on!

Its open Monday? Bit too early for me, but I might explore getting down there on the Tuesday?! Does anyone know which campsites will be open on Tuesday? Also with shuttle buses not running till Wednesday, how much will a taxi cost from Koblenz to the site? I read the FAQ on official website thanks to some chrome conversions and im pretty sure it stated no glass of cans allowed on the festival site. Im hoping this only applies to the arena and not the camping grounds? :-D

Tickets now booked from London-Cologne.

Leaving on the Wednesday night, getting to Cologne on the Thursday morning.

Should be an adventure!!

Staying in Cologne the Monday after the festival, any cool places to hit up? Won't be leaving for London again until 6:30pm

Right me and a friend are driving across on the Tuesday, any chance anyone else is driving over and wants to convoy? also camping, is there a larger amount of English people in B5 then? or is the language barrier not usually an issue? cheers for any help and suggestions :)

Depends on what time you're going over! My friends and I are getting the ferry at about midnight on Tuesday night cos they're at work during the day.

I've never seen a large amount of British people, I think I've met two groups of British people in the three years that I've been. I've met about two Germans that didn't speak English so don't worry about that! B5 is a good place, I'm more than happy to answer any questions you have. Have you booked your ferry yet?

For some strange reason we have decided to get a Monday morning ferry, I think that was my idea as I am the one driving so was wanting optimum time to stop and sleep when I wanted to, just realized how we might be quite a bit ahead of time, lol oh well, I wanna be ready and raring to go for getting trollied on the Wednesday, think we shall take the recommendations and try for B5 then, and maybe we can meet at entrance to camp and form and alliance? :P also how does the ticket and wristband exchange actually work? cause what people have previously said has confused me quite a bit, cheers for your help btw.

Always interested in going to this festival...but what's it like?

How's the atmosphere? Does it built up towards headliners?

Are there many things to do after bands finish?

Is there a village like Drownload?

How much does merch cost?

http://www.ringrocker.com/campingmap.php

I found this map of Rock AM Ring, and I'm a bit confused with all the colours around the arena...Can someone please explain?

I watch the stream every year, and then the crowd's reaction is always disappointing...(as in, not active qua singing along, dancing etc (these assumptions might be wrong), that's why I haven't really looked into it...

Cheers

The running order of the bands is up now, along with a handful of bands that were announced today. It looks like Korn and Limp Bizkit will clash with 30 Seconds to Mars which means I now have something I'm happy to see on Friday night!

Saturday night is awesome for me; Stone Sour then Volbeat then The Prodigy on centrestage before a bit of Killers on alternastage.

Quality bands all over the place on the line up, really happy with it. About 40 days to go!

Very happy how Friday night has turned out. Some quality bands playing. Disappointed about the Sunday though to be honest. Not too many bands I'm interested in. Booked tickets for Mudhoney at Frankfurt last night for the Monday then travel to festival on Tuesday.

In 2010 we toyed with the idea of getting a taxi there but it's quite a treck from Koblenz to the festival site and we never found out how much it was... Does it look like there are buses running on the Tuesday? It's definitely your best option if you can get it.

I've researched it, but the buses (multiple exchanges) takes 12 hrs... taxi is £160 I read somewhere... I think the best option, is to find some cheap accom in Koblenz on the Tuesday then get the early shuttle bus (probably first) to the ring and set up camp.

Pain in the ass, I didn't think this through! ha

Right, not long now, getting excited!

Just a few questions, first are the people from here trying too camp in B5 then? think we should have a camp E(fests).

Also can anyone shed any light on the average prices for stuff at the festival, food and drink and stuff, and the prices at any local shops/supermarkets for crates (or equivalent) and festival foods.

Help muchly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Dan

I'm staying in Koblenz now on Tue and heading their on Wed, should be there for about 2, hopefully there should be plenty of room in B5. Just me and my brother pitching up. Would be better if a group of English pitched close by

I'm assuming there are plenty of super markets on Koblenz to buy cheap booze? It's just about quantity really....

We won't be getting there until the Thursday around 4pm.

Hope there are still some spaces left!!

Plan for ale is to goto a REWE when we're in Cologne and get a few cheap crates of German beer!

We'll try and head for B5, maybe give some of you a ring if you want and we can have a bit of an English camp.

3 of us going.

thats true. germans at festivals are always glad to banter with their neighbours, especially if there from abroad.

i think they think we invented festivals and music altogether, and it's always good to cram out the english accent when a few birds are around, seriously, its as if they have this english-accent-button which just needs clicking and their knees go all weak :)
