thetime
Can England produce players like spain have? Do the kids still play on full size pitches in schools? Is the prem to fast paced to produce players like that? Have English players got the intelligence to play that way?
kaosmark2
I think cole is a good example, when he showed individualism when young he was called a big time Charlie. By the time he got to Liverpool it was too late, a player who would have benefited from playing abroad from an early age.
strummer77
This was more my point. I'm not trying to defend his form at Liverpool, just point out that the sort of play and talent he had was treated with disdain, almost fear. Benj
So AVB deffo in at Spurs then. I think its a good signing for them, assuming the board press etc, give him a chance to build a side. You'd assume losing Modric, Adebayour etc will give him a bit of grace results wise, if he's given fat wedge to spend though, I can see him getting a world of pressure once more pretty early. TheGayTent
Cole could have been the player of his generation. Whether he would have been we'll never know. One thing is for certain though, as soon as he left WHU he was never going to fulfil his potential, as he never played regularly again in his natural position. The Nal
Valencia has been given the #7 shirt at Utd for next season. Well deserved.

The Nal
Whilst I'm happy for him, think it has anything to do with nani acting like a prat recently?
thetime
Maybe. Valencia is a far better player though.
Ed209
Sturridge being tested for suspected viral meningitis. The much more dangerous meningitis is the bacterial kind, not the viral one. Plus it encompasses a huge range of possible viruses and a vast range of prognoses (that on the whole are fairly positive). Probably worth waiting for some more news before everyone goes all "Muamba" on him. Just checked twitter .... too late Edited July 3, 2012 by Ed209

eFestivals
I see Pogba has left Utd for Juve .... and Ferguson stuck the knife in like a bad loser.
The Nal
It was a period that Cole was most effective, and bloody good to watch to boot.

thetime
England gone up to 4th best team in the world according to FIFA rankings. Edited July 4, 2012 by thetime
eFestivals
Bit slow on the uptake, was done months ago. the deal with Juve might have been (fergie certainly thinks so ), the leaving and the slagging off from fergie is very recent. eFestivals
Gives you liverpool(ex) fans something to chat about in your dark days. nah, it's fuck all about that. It's about the standard fergie arrogance - him saying Pogba is not a player he wants, and yet he's spent the last 6 months doing his best to keep him at Utd. It's precisely because fergie has spent the last 6 months trying to persuade him to stay without effect that fergie is now slagging him off. eFestivals
Bit of a non story, fergie slags of a squad player woo hoo. No, it's not that at all. It's "fergie turns on player after being snubbed by player". It is the finest example you can ever see of someone being a bad loser. We will see if pogba does a wee better than ravel Morrison. that will be the proclaimed salvation for Utd fans, if it happens. Personally, from the little I've seen of him I don't think there's much there, but fergie clearly does - else he'd have not spent 6 months trying to get him to sign a new contract. So either way, there's not really any salvation for Utd fans. They've got a mid-guided manager if he flops.
