kaosmark2
I would be interested to see if an average member of the public would have got off with the same evidence though. In fact has any millionaire premiership footballer ever been found guilty of anything, Im struggling to think now. I remember Gerrard being the only innocent man in a group of guilty non millionaires. I think Bowyer or woodgate may have been found guilty of something but may be mistaken. I think when it comes to JT I will take more signifcance in the court of public opinion.
thetime
Joe public on all probability of been found guilty because they couldn't afford a top lawyer. They would end up with some shit lawyer. Paper talk but reports are that Anton Ferdinand could be charged by fa for bringing the game into disrepute.

pink_triangle
If everton don't want Owen he is screwed, assuming he doesn't want to move from his comfort zone. Man city and Liverpool are too big while he probably thinks he is too important for wigan or stoke. He comes across to me as lazy and someone who would rather be paid to sit on a bench than take real responsibility elsewhere.

thesecretingredientiscrime
Went to my first game of the season today, Oxford-West Ham. Wasn't a great game, great goal from Ox though. West Ham created chances, but were poor mostly, didn't take them. Robbie Hall hit the post late on, but Ox really made them look poor considering how strong a side they had out. Noble started a bit of a brawl, probably deserved to go for it. Obviously can't tell much from a pre-season friendly, but I'd be concerned for West Ham off the back of that. eFestivals
LFC signed Clint Dempsey. Good business. where's that info from? I know it's been rumoured, but I can't find anything saying it's happened. I don't think it's a great bit of business unless he's on a free. He's decent enough but Liverpool need to be aiming higher. The Nal
Ah don't think we have unfortunately. Seems that was just the NESN website reporting it. They're owned by the same people but don't think they get inside scoops or anything. Just an awful bit of journalism from someone who failed to accurately transcribe the video that accompanies it. For the record though, it looks fairly likely we will get him pretty soon. Someone just jumped the gun. thetime
10m reported, be interesting the length of contract. 4 year contract and they will have an ageing player on high wages on there hands. Although by liverpool recent record he will bomb.
eFestivals
I think it is a good signing. Hes better than Carroll. Liverpool have to be realistic. They're not in the Champions League. he's better than Carroll for the style of play Liverpool are likely to have with odgers, that much I'll happily agree with. But whether he's better than Carroll I don't know. Carroll has had the occasional good season, much like Dempsey has - but both only occasional. With Carroll there's the possibility of improvement, but with Dempsey you know the only movement in form will be downwards at his age. Dempsey would be decent enough as a back-up striker, but I don't see him as better than that for any of the 'big' clubs (Chumps league or not). If he was better than that he'd have been at a 'big' club for the last 5+ years. Edited July 18, 2012 by eFestivals

strummer77
I'd have Dempsey for the right price. Got to build slowly back. These shit or bust approaches we've tried (like last summer) haven't worked. Rogers seems to be going about it sensibly as there's a good enough squad to be at least a couple of places higher than last season already in place. eFestivals
Liverpool are big club by name but not on the pitch and thats all players think of. Like nal says your not in the champions league and that's what players want to be in. The likes of Dempsey is your level now. he might be the right sort of level for a non-Chumps club but it's a dead-end signing, a lack of ambition. If I were doing the signings i'd go for a few 'might make its' in preference to a player who won't like Dempsey. It's not the sort of signing which will take them anywhere. So why sign a player that doesn't give any improvement over that, and whose form over a number of Prem seasons is a bit hit and miss? It's not a dreadful signing - as I've said he'd be a decent back-up striker - but he's still a dead end signing.
