LondonTom
Apparently the Carroll deal is 2m up front on a loan deal and an additional 15m only if they stay up. They'll make it back in TV money. I still can't see it but thats the rumour.
TheGayTent
Why would either deny it? From liverpools perspective it keeps his name in the paper and possibly encourages others to make a similar bid. From West Hams point it makes the fans think that they really mean business, although it could drive prices up for other targets.
The Nal
Exactly. Plus of course it helps* sell season tickets. They're always mouthing off in pre-season - Neymar, Beckham, etc *They think anyway, who knows if it does Edited July 27, 2012 by The Nal
TheGayTent
Well in fairness you did get Tevez and Mascherano. That was a bit of a scoop! And this current Carroll thing, shows ambition (even if its completely misplaced) and good for PR. Don't see any of the other promoted teams in the papers. TheGayTent
I'd like a lamborghini gallardo. Is talking about owning one showing ambition - or living in cloud cuckoo land (my annual salary is less than the cost of a new one...) TheGayTent
I don't suscribe fully to your point of view. You may have an argument it's good PR in terms of some football supporters who live in cloud cuckoo land. However, you miss the fact that to the others that don't (the cynics...?) it's very much a case of bad PR.

The Nal
Zlatan. In the goals already, 2 minutes into his debut And as for this! Edited July 29, 2012 by The Nal
pink_triangle
Very impressed with Oscar yesterday, although not sure how chelsea will fit him and Hazard in to the team as it looked to me like they play the same position. Lucas didnt get on the pitch for long enough to make much of a judgement.

kaosmark2
I bet its a legal thing, because of the court case. My hunch is that they don't want to ban him for racism as then Terry and Chelsea will turn around and say a court of law never found him guilty therefore how can the FA? LondonTom
The thing is, had Suarez had a case through real courts, he would have been found not guilty. There's stronger evidence against Terry than there was against Suarez. Suarez was deemed "probably guilty" by the FA, who really should do the same to Terry. pink_triangle
If the transfer is guaranteed if liverpool stay up, I think the offer from West Ham is a good one that probably wont be bettered elsewhere. I think its a case of forgetting the transfer fee and cutting losses, the fact the bid has been accepted should be a strong hint that his time is up. The fact he doesnt want to accept a permanent deal makes me wonder if he is gambling on Rodgers failing and hoping to get another chance with someone else at liverpool.
