The problem with the anthems stems from the fact that England and GB use the same song. If England used Land of hope and Glory or Jereusalem, I dont think it would be an issue.

As a Welshman I can see why the players are reluctant to sing the anthem. Most of these players havent sung the national anthem before Welsh games so if they started singing a song that many Wlesh football fans consider the English national anthem it would go down terribly in Wales. Its a no win situation for the Welsh players and not singing is probably the best option. I have heard some journalists criticise the Welsh players for not singing but considering English players often dont sing in England games without media criticism, I dont think its a huge issue.

As for fans booing the anthem its not acceptable to me. Its a horrible thing thats crept into football in recent years and I hope it goes away. I have heard England and Northern Ireland fans boo the Welsh anthem, wales fans boo the English anthem, even welsh fans boo the luxembourg anthem because they use "God save the Queen" as well! I personally wouldnt sing "God save the Queen" as I only feel real passion for the welsh anthem. However if you dont want to sing it, dont boo it, just stand silently.

I missed the usual 74 smiley emoticons from your post

Oh. You should have gone with your presumption then and answered my question. Especially when you got so humpty about getting an answer to your own question.

Anyway, it wasn't a serious question because I already know the answer, which is of course "Trevor Brooking".
