The thing if if 'Pards' was a bit more of a Redknapp for arguments sake... he would be all over the media saying 'We can get <Insert Player>, triffic lad, will rip up this league, he wants to play for us, cheap deal' the fans lap it up... and then the pressure is on the board to sign them.

Harry then plays hard done by if he doesnt get his man, and the board are made to look like the bad guys. He is a master at this sort of thing. Still makes my skin itch.

I agree. If Rooney went to Arsenal and Arsenal won the league there'd be no way Utd fans would applaud him on his return to Old Trafford.

How many ex players from any club get warm receptions? Very very few.

Danny Guthrie got a great reception when he came back to St James' with Reading this season. He obviously left because he was on the edge of the first team and wanted guaranteed football, which he would pretty much get at Reading.(Kevin Nolan got a great reception too - in fact only Michael Owen springs to mind as getting a terrible reception)

Completly agree. In my mind Newcastle overperformed last season, and as a result of this over performance Ashley was reluctent to spend in the summer, as a result Newcastle had a team that was never going to perform at the same level again this season. I'm a big beleive that the summer is the time to do the majority of your business, and January is the time to react to players becoming avaliable or how the first half of the season went basically top up your squad.

It doesnt supprise me Newcastle are where they are this season, and its probably about right, last season was the exception not the rule.

It surprises me! Last season was a great achievement and I didn't expect the same this year. But then again I also didn't expect us to have the worst defence in the league, the least amount of away wins and to put in home performances as pathetic as those on Saturday and v Sunderland.

If you look at our first team on paper, that's easily a top half of the table squad.

Fit and in form? You'd be looking at Krul, Collo, Cabaye, HBA and Cisse at least (certainly if it was Cisse v Jellyfish I'd go Papisse).

On top of that you've got young Yanga-Mbiwa who won the league with Montpellier and Sissoko.

Debuchy's better than Coleman or Hibbert as well, although that was hard to see against 'Pool.

I think Sissoko's got a lot to learn though. He started brilliantly but he's run himself into trouble too many times in recent weeks. Fantastic talent but his decision-making is awful.

I wasnt one of those saying that man for man newcastle were better than liverpool. Its so hard to judge early in the season as it can often take a few months before the stronger squads kick in and the likes of wba with their great starts fall down the table. Lets be honest though liverpools wage bill is probably twice as big as newcastles, so theres no excuse not to be better!
