TheGayTent
No. We finished 5th last season, and while that was riding luck and we've lost Ba since, the rest of the squad has been improved.
TheGayTent
Wolves have now sacked Saunders. Think the board there are challenging the Venky's for idiocy. Perhaps Morgan and Moxy should fire themselves. After all, who sacked McCarthy and appointed Connor, Solbakken, and Saunders?

TheGayTent
Debuchy vs Simpson? Williamson vs Mbiwa? Obertan vs Gouffran? Guthrie vs Sissoko? Players that played 20+ games for us last season struggle to get in our first team now. The rest of the squad has improved, even if the net result is deterioration due to Ba going. kaosmark2
Football isn't played on paper. Besides which, that outlook ignores all other factors. Factors you've considered yourself previously, such as having a good run of fortune with injuries, and relying heavily on one player now departed but also other factors such as other teams improving their squad. The league table at the end of a season doesn't lie. I'm willing to bet a lot of money Newcastle won't be in the top half of the table come 6pm on 19th May. TheGayTent
I don't slate Pardew's abilities. I slate his character and temperament - that's his Achilles heel, and he seems unable to cure it. It's why he always has success initially before crashing and burning quite spectacularly. Basically, he's never grown up. He's Peter Pan. lharris92
Yeah, I agree with all of that. It's just that "the squad could finish top 10" isn't a "cloud cuckoo land" statement, it's just relying on a bit of optimism and luck that we haven't got this season. And I did say the squad, I didn't say the manager, and you're even keener to slate Pardew's abilities than I am.
RobertProsineckisLighter
Do you know what really annoys me about Newcastle United? The whole fucking Geordie Nation bollocks.

lharris92
It didn't get to the crashing and burning stage at Southampton did it? I thought it was a board member's wife at one of the clubs?

RobertProsineckisLighter
Sounds like a real bad injury to the Swansea keeper. Hope he is ok. Edited May 7, 2013 by RobertProsineckisLighter
