As great as RVP/Rooney up top would be, it sort of nulls the work thats been put into Welbeck over the last 4 years.

I hear they are going to extend the transfer deadline date by 5 days to accomodate Man Utd.

Fergie will probably complain as he thinks it's not long enough for such an important piece of business like this.

Only a pre season I know but dark times ahead for Milan. Lost 5-1 to Real Madrid last night and it could've been 15. Shamrock Rovers put up more of a fight when I saw them play Madrid.

I dont understand why Berbatov isn't being used in the deal.

Maybe he is behind closed doors, but it makes sense for both parties ...

His value is around £7m and it looks like nobody is interested in him. So if Utd were to offer £10m - £15m + Berba, then Arsenal are getting a proven goalscorer and a chunk of money for a player who could leave for free this time next year.

United would also be saving money on the deal.

And Berbatov would be joining a top 3/4 club instead of the likes of QPR who are being mentioned.

One criticism I have of Fergie in the transfer market is his unwillingness to consider things like this. It makes perfect sense. Good technical player who may suit Arsenal perfectly.

I did have a chuckle at Fergie's comments about how its mad paying ¤45m for a 19 year old. A similar amount, 8 years ago, that Utd paid for 18 year old Wayne Rooney.

also, it's almost what he was willing to pay for that particular 19 year old. It's hardly like his offer was hugely less than that.
