thesecretingredientiscrime
I'm an Oxford fan. Craddock was a decent player, but always got set back by injuries and never really found his feet after. He's worth having "just in case". strummer77
, however it does have the potential to create a situation where a teams borderline 2nd/3rd in their champions league group but struggling in the league would benefit from finishing 3rd instead of 2nd to get an easier qualification route. TheGayTent
Connolly is class. Lovely little player to watch, good technically, and an eye for goal. Unless age has caught up with him, he'll be superb in that league.
RobertProsineckisLighter
I have only heard of the first 3! Agyemang is a bit of a lower league journeyman. I think he played at championship level but was out of his depth. I seem to remember at Wimbledon he was highly rated and He comes across as a player who had potential but never delivered, not sure if its injuries, attitude or maybe he just wasn't that good. Craddock we had on loan for one game and he scored, looked ...... and then got injured and never played again. I therefore followed him a little bit. Surprised he has never really come on, I expected him to be a championship/league 1 standard player. I think if he gets hos confidence up, he could get on a roll. Connolly - Wow that's a blast from the past, thought he retired years ago! Always seemed like he was one of those players, too good for the championship, but not good enough for the premiership. eFestivals
It's worth pointing out all the players we have signed are on Free's aswell we're not allowed to pay for a player at the moment (not that we can afford too).I'd say that pompey are in a good position for getting players, even without paying transfer fees. It's a bit like the situation Aldershot were in when they had to start again from scratch. They were able to attract players from the leagues above them purely on the basis that those players fancied playing in front of bigger crowds than they'd otherwise get to play in front of. TheGayTent
Does he still wear a watch with a Velcro strap when he's playing?! The quality of his passing, especially the weight of his passes was what I liked about him and his footballing brain - always seemed to position himself well. Was excellent in partnership with Defoe. Was amazed when Pardew chose to pair Mellor with Defoe for a while. Thankfully didn't last long as he realised what everyone else could see - i.e. Mellor was toilet - whatever happened to him ? RobertProsineckisLighter
To be honest theres very little in terms of transfer fees being spent in league 2 and below, so that shouldnt put you at much of a disadvantage. I actually think transfer fees are a bit of a red herring anyway, I think last season Kidderminster in our league paid 10k for a player, but compared to other teams in the league his wages were probably lower, so the total financial package was less. I think wage bill is a much better way to compare a clubs relative financial power, unsure how you compare with others in the league, I suspect there will be very few splashing the cash though. eFestivals
|There is a very real possiblity that on the road we will outnumber home fans (I've been two games like this twice, proper weird).when the 'new' Aldershot started they were sometimes taking 1,000 + fans to grounds that normally got gates of around 100.|I just hope its my grand that pays connollys first weeks wages!you invested in the new club? Good on you.

TheGayTent
I remember the year we got promoted to the premiership, we had three sides at Bradford last game of the season, and that same season we took 9k to Wimbeldon (Selhurst) on a tuesday night. They had 100 or something like that... we lost.
RobertProsineckisLighter
7 current or former WHU players played in that game. 2 for Wimbledon and 5 for Pompey. There's your uninteresting fact of the day.
TheGayTent
Gary O'Neil, Matty Taylor, Shaka Hislop, Hayden Foxe, Svetoslav Todorov. Would be my guess.
RobertProsineckisLighter
I would guess Hayden Foxe is wrong, think he might have arrived after this game. Quashie?

The season after we signed Sebestian Schemmel too...he and Harry fell out. Edited May 24, 2013 by RobertProsineckisLighter
