pink_triangle
Well thats the football season over with, dam those pesky years ending in odd numbers. The play off final was pretty poor yesterday, glad place won as they were the better team. I also wanted them to win because Im not keen on the watford model of bringing in a load of loan players. I also think in recent years there have been there has been a trend of employing nice but boring "coaches" to managerial positions eg clarke, rodgers, hughton and it will be nice to see someone like Holloway with a bit of personality. pink_triangle
"French big spenders Monaco are expected to add Colombian striker Radamel Falcao to their squad this week, having already signed Porto's midfield duo Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez for a combined £60m" Wow looks like PSG are not going to have it all their own way in France over the next few years. kaosmark2
Well they were never going to. The Bundesliga gives an example of a league with one financially dominant team, they get arrogant and struggle in 1/2 the seasons. This gives a chance of another French team being significant in the Champs Lge though. Anyone know what Lyon's finances are like? They had decent runs in recent years. pink_triangle
And Valdes. And Moutinho, And Tevez. And Ivanovic. And Nasri. And Carvalho. All rumours obviously but this Rybolovlev guy is worth 9 billion. God knows what sort of tax loopholes he'll avail of in setting up shop with all that money in Monaco. I think its tax free for him. strummer77
I quite like him, but he got Wigan relegated. Not even Steve Bruce and Paul Jewell managed that. Certainly think he gets off lightly compared to some others.

TheGayTent
If Martinez spoke with a dour Yorkshire accent he'd be a lot less popular.
kaosmark2
I like him too but its amazing what one or two attacking displays of football at crucial games over three seasons will do for a manager. Makes people forget that the other 100 games were mainly poor. They conceded 73 goals last season and kept 2 clean sheets I think. Thats awful stuff. They fully deserved to go down and the only reason they didn't go down sooner was due to Reading and QPR being God awful. They've also been on the end of a couple of right hammerings. As bad as I've ever seen. 8 nils, 9-1s etc. Poor. Whatever drugs Whelan is on to maintain an erection must be interfering with his brain. Going on about Martinez waiting for a "top European club". Red side of Merseyside will be happy with this no doubt! He did manage to get Sunderland to pay a million for Titus Bramble though - a man who shouldn't play football - so Martinez does deserve some credit. I bet he and Whelan had a right night out when they did that.
strummer77
At least its not as bad as Hughes getting the Stoke job. Must be so many managers more deserving of a shot at a solid Prem club than that man.

TheGayTent
Yeah they made sense all along really. If he's a 3rd/4th choice for a couple of years I think it could be a fairly sensible option. Not inspiring, but him on a 'free' probably allows us to pay a bit more on a Coates/Skrtel replacement. Apparently wasn't bad when he played for City last year, which is encouraging. The Nal
I have a bad feeling England are going to hammer us later. Forde; Coleman, O'Shea, St Ledger, Kelly; Walters, McCarthy, Whelan, McGeady; Keane, Long

LondonTom
As a Welshman its not usual for me to stick up for the neighbours, however I think England put more effort to friendlies than many other big countries and don't think there is a huge drop from competitive matches that some countries see.
