I agree with all this talk about footballers learning from the olympians about how to conduct themselves both on and off the field. I would love to see the petulance stamped out of the game, however I think to make imporvements it would require fans of clubs being more willing to criticise their players when they do wrong, instead of blindly supporting. Im not sure that is likely to happen.

Haha as soon as i wrote that I knew someone would mention rio. Did he take drugs? Did dwaine chambers serve his initial ban or go to arbitration? Im with people with footballers could learn a thing or 2 from the olympians.

Lets not try and kid ourselfs theres far more drug cheats in the olympic sports than theres every been in football. How many athletes have been caught in the past and continue to be.

My view is that a missed drug test should be treated the same as a failed drugs test or else you let sportsmen strategically decide whether it is in there best interest to take it or not. I dont know if Rio took any drugs but he didnt take the opportunity to prove his innocence, so he should be treated as guilty. Agreed that there is more work to do to catch drug cheats, unfortunately the cheats are always one step ahead.

As I have said the cheats are always ahead of the testers, its not incooncievable that something could have been designed that would have been picked up in test A but not test B.

He should have been sacked in my opinion, if it had been a low level squad player I suspect Man U would have wanted the good publicty of being strong against drugs. If it had been a wrexham player good or bad, valuable or worthless, I would want him out of the club straight away. However as typical in football commercial interests take priority over moral interests. it seems to me in sport drug cheats are now getting treated more lenient, I would like to see them treateed harsher whether its a missed or failed test.
