Of course McManaman was a success at Real. The argument he didn't always play regular doesn't automatically mean he wasn't a success. There are many ways to be a success. Shorter, simple moments that help shape history- like McManaman did- are one way of being a success.

That is the joy and glory of football.

Edit: This is coming from somebody who isn't overly keen on him...

You mean successful individually (I.e. playing well) or successful team (I.e. playing well and/or winning)?

Nope, I mean neither of those.

There's plenty of fan-favourites who are (for instance) loved for their personal efforts on the pitch but where those efforts aren't classed as particularly great in a skillful/effective footballing sense.

(I'm not saying that necessarily applies to Macca, just to be clear. I'm merely pointing out that being a fan-favourite isn't always about being a great or effective player).

You are talking shit... The majority of players playing in the Lower Leagues are well into the Professional age bracket or are you seriously suggesting League Two are fielding 16 and 17 year olds on a regular basis.

Your whole point is garbage.

And just to put meat on the bones of just how much you don't know....

http://www.statbunke...ype=seasonsquad

Average age in League Two is between 22 and 27

and guess what? The average for the Prem is significantly higher.

Which of course gets to show that there's many more youngsters being used by lower league clubs.

You can't get away from the stats... Average age and average salary... Deal with it ffs

and you can't ignore the stated fact of those stats - that it's the average for 'professionals'.

It's the case just about all-round now that there's no players classed as professional who are aged under 18. Some clubs play 15 year olds.
