Does anyone know how I can revert my computer (mac in this case) to the settings which had before doing the host trick? Or will it not matter? (im worried for security reasons as I dont really know what i've actually done) Thanks! (and good luck to everyone still trying!)

Phew - I'm in!!

Must have entered registration details a dozen times and on last attempt after entering them it went back to the queing page but kept refreshing. Then failed again so refreshed, went to payments page, eventually able to enter card details and finally got confirmation page!

I think patience may be the key (sorry if that sounds smug - just trying to be helpful)

I used the host name trick and instantly all of my tabs went to the payment page and I had no problem going through the process. 10 minutes later I was having the same issue as everyone else.. It does seemt hat they've closed that loophole.

got em! did the host thing on mac, not sure if it's the same as the instructions posted as my housemate (who works in IT) changed it all for me.

So.... how long should it take for the confirm email to come through? Feel like I can't get excited until I get that?

Same thing.

Allegedly the hosts thing has been patched by see and will no longer give you an advantage. But please don't take that as gospel.
