Got my ticket booked for Werchter, been wanting to go for years but this is the first year I'm in a position to go.

Couple of questions if the more experienced ones don't mind?

  • I'll be driving from the UK as for a group of 3 it looks like it will work out cheaper and more convenient for us. Which is the best campsite to aim for? Got the XL ticket booked and will hopefully be staying in Brussels the Tuesday night.

  • How far is the campsite from the carpark? I'm used to long walks on this one, I'm a Download fest regular! It would still be handy to know though.

  • How do the campsites compare to UK festivals? More relaxed or more intense?
Cheers guys!

Hi Everyone

I was hoping you could help a couple of South Africans out:

We are doing a Contiki tour before that finishes on the Tuesday before RW13 in Amsterdam. What I would like to know is:

1 - What is a good place to stay in Brussels for the two nights before RW?

2 - Is there enough time to visit brugge or should we just tour Brussels on the Tuesday and Wednesday?

3 - How early should we leave on the Thursday morning from Brussels to arrive with enough time to set up camp before the festival? (We have the Normal Camping tickets)

4 - What necesities are required for the festival except for a tent, matras and sleeping bags?

5 - How do you obtain the railway pass for the free travel to and from the festival included with the ticket?

As we dont get a lot of bands touring South Africa, what are the chances of Mumford and Sons and Smashing Pumpkins playing at RW this year? Would die to see them

2- To visit Brugge by train, you need a whole day. Gent is also lovely, even better for young people and closer to Brussels.

5- The E-festival ticket itself is not valid for travelling by train. However, each e-festival ticket entitles you to one free and nominative e-train ticket which can be ordered as from 05/06/2013 onwww.sncb.be/rockwerchter using the SNCB code mentioned on your e-festivalticket.

Smashing Pumpins are headlining Dour Festival, also in Belgium and 2 weeks later. No Pumpkins at Werchter.

Don't think Mumford and Sons will play in Werchter this year. Had them last year.

I can't understand why RW always want's to announce a big bunch of names. Herman confirmed in a radioshow in Holland about two weeks ago that Sigur Rós and Alt-J were confirmed, why didn't they announce it then? I'd rather have many announcements with fewer bands then fewer announcement with a lot of bands.

I reckon youve got about 8 weeks left to buy a ticket, doesnt matter how they announce the bands it will sell out.

I like the idea of 3-4 names a week and something to look forward to, I also think the bands you want to see stick in your mind more, if its like that you listen to the 1 name you liked that week, that week and get more excited than a load of names at once
