What is the mechanism in retractable washing lines called?

Bit of a random one ppl, but I'm hoping someone might know the answer. What is the mechanism you find in retractable blinds/washing lines/dog leads which makes the string go back? I need one for a little project I'm working on and Google isn't helping me!

You could get a spring out of a cheap measuring tape;
