I think last years tickets hit rock bottom, mainly due the supply seriously outweighing demand due to people still buying to sell tickets for a profit and most people thinking the line up was pretty poor, especially the headliners.

I picked up a ticket for something like £120 last year however I cannot see as many people making the same mistake this year so I don't think they will go for much less than £155-£160.

A mate of mine was trying to flog his last year for face value (£195 I think?) Until he saw they were going for as little as £80 on ebay. So I said I'd take it off his hands for £120. Bargain imo.

This year I already have my ticket, so will be a bit annoyed if they are going for similar amounts again, but I think this year has a stronger line up than 2011, maybe a wake up call to the organisers that it's very overpriced these days.

Don't think they can do much more, people are already saving around 20 quid on the free beer and burger scheme.

None of the competitors are doing this. Most festivals are just pricing themselves out, especially with potential new festival customers.

R&L gets a bad rap but compared to V (£22.50 cheaper but only two days), TITP (£2.50 more expensive and only two and a half days) and IOW (£7.50 cheaper but fewer stages) it isn't that bad*

As thetime says all festivals are increasing prices at a rate that young people can't keep up with, and in an effort to try and persuede them to part with their money they're putting on line-ups that don't appeal to those who do have money (us old farts).

* prices based on those quoted by efestivals for thursday-sunday camping, TITP could conceivably be two-and-two-thirds days long rather than two-and-a-half depending on your outlook.

Theres been a steady increase in prices during the last 10 years or so, which was all good when it was selling out as demand was there.

Now there just isn't the demand like there was, which leaves organisers with difficult decisions to make.

It's not the overall price that gets me, it's the price of the ticket compared to the bands that have been booked at Reading eg on paper the TitP 2011 line up would have cost a lot more than Reading/Leeds (ignoring the demographics of each, bands available etc) but tickets are still similarly priced. This years line up looks better value for money than last years, especially the headliners.
