Justiceforcedave
...lets not even get into what you get for your money at Glasto... although of course that's a special case. There's also cost of all the food and beers and all the other things you get rinsed for at festivals. Do you think they'll try and lower the price? And if they do where would you want them to make the cut ; )

thetime
Cut stages there isnt that many anyway is there? When you get past the the 2 top stages the bands wouldnt be paid that much any. The only way they could cut prices is cheaper bands, simple really. Like tourette says there not going to cut prices, people are bing very naive thinking they will. kaosmark2
I'm positive there was an article a few weeks back saying how the same bands charge nearly double to British fests as to continental European ones. Even bands that command similar slots in the same place. I presume the reason for that is that the fests pay that much and there's competition between the fests for those acts. If UK fests can't afford to pay the bands as much as they are now, they should pay them less. It's one thing doing it when they're selling out and it helps guarantee that, but they're not. kev1664
If something was to get cut, make it the capacity. Less tickets = more demand per available ticket. Also, less security, less staff, less ameineties, less mess to clear up. Or go the other way and add another day of music to the line up, be that separate line ups at reading and leeds or staggered starts like in the past music Thursday to Sunday reading, Friday to monday at Leeds. An extra day of music should entice a few people to choose r&l over others.

LondonTom
Interesting. Not sure how much of that to believe.
thetime
90,000 people at reading that's going to be seriously iver crowded, its not even a big site. Could be the hot weather giving people a nudge to buy tickets, they do reckon more tickets are sold when its hot.
mrtourette
I guess they wouldn't increase capacity and have to deal with the extra stewards/facilities/space and license application work if they weren't very close to being able to sell those extra tickets off? (Presuming of course, it's gone through Reading Council and therefore anyone if bothered can look it up)
mrtourette
Although perhaps I'm just being sceptical after last year's "sold out" nonsense. If they are genuinely close to selling out then yes it makes sense to get an increase, as thetime says the prospect of better weather is likely to push sales up and persuade the organisers that they'll be able to sell the extra tickets. LondonTom
That's assuming that there has been a capacity increase. Maybe they're just claiming that as an excuse to post a reminder to buy tickets without sounding desperate.
Bradders
I've got Leeds Fest tickets. Stuck to my £150 target, 2 for that price, 1 for £140 and an early entry for £15 inc. postage. Got Bestival for £143 while I was at it, pretty pleased. I'd almost forgotten the good old days when you could do this
rug568
yeah i need to get round to buying. Fest selling out will be very bad news, don't wan't to pay much over £150, ideally around £120.
Bradders
Most on ebay have been going for £180, you'd do well to get it down to £120 on there. I guess this could change much nearer the festival, but in the two weeks since I first posted on here and started watching what tickets were going for, the prices have gone up if anything. rug568
i think they take a bit of a dive if the festival hasn't sold out about 1 week before hand with people desperate to offload tickets.
rug568
ah shit i just made a classic ebay mistake. bidded for what i thought was a weekend ticket + early entry + car park. Won it at £30. Feeling very pleased with myself, until i realised it was only car park and early entry. I already have an early entry and car park ticket.
