Chiefski
I'm hoping for one and if it's not, there might be a choice of selling my ticket and if it's poor, it may not sell. Wouldn't sell over face value like but you still want your funds back. Want to give it a go but it is a trek from where I am. Weather I understand you just need to go, wrap up and deal with it. Where is best to camp up? I'm moreso up for a good laugh but nothing to heavy on, I'm the more older T/R&L goer if you like so a little calmer and some sleep be nice lol. Gparsfan
The Cure are one of the most important and influential British Bands of all time here and abroad. They have shifted 27million albums worldwide, thats something the Arctic Monkeys will never do. A worthy headliner.
jump
Arctic Monkeys have shifted over 60 million records worldwide, in 6 years and 4 albums. The Cure have shifted 27 million records in 36 years and 13 albums, and not forgetting how well there last album done, really not a worth headliner for a festival in this day in age no matter how you spin it tbh. gazza_20
I'm almost tempted to say thats too strong, though there would be alot I'd like to see there
Chiefski
Going off of a year like 2011 when Glasto was around, it's not too strong at all. I just think Green Day are stick on and The Killers - shared with R&L. There will be one and Biffy might just be a little weak to be it. Then you can't see them not trying for Muse/GaGa - it shouts massive band - £60 + arena tour prices!
gazza_20
For what its worth, I think those could be the headliners, though I'm leaning more to Muse doing a stadium show next summer up here for the first time instead, probably one of the only places they havent done a stadium gig now (perhaps around the time they may play V) But a header of Gaga, The Killers/Biffy, Green Day is a strong look in any case
Stuart1000
It was thought Gaga would tour the US this winter leaving Spring/Summer next year to do a 2nd European leg of her tour but she's just announced more European dates for December so it looks like the 2nd European leg will be then. I just think this confirms she won't be playing T.
Gparsfan
Wrong, that figure includes singles over 10 years, if you're gonna repeat what I say at the very least repeat it correctly. If you were to not include singles The Cure's sales would still out sell them with ease. The Cure are iconic and have a true legacy in music which isn't spin and will be remembered long after The Monkees which makes them far more worthy of being headliners. I've seen them twice once in the early days and once after they were huge and both times I thought they were horrible live, they don't know how to deal with a crowd, choose poor set lists and weren't tight enough as a band but I suppose their fan boys lap it up all the same. I always am.
frankblack
If the Arctic Monkeys were to release an album tommorow it would go to number one, if the Cure were to release an album it wouldn't break the top 30, and no matter what way you spint it about what legacy they may or may not have, any band that can't make a top 30 album just simply don't deserve to be headlining a major music festival. jump
The first single the Arcitc Monkeys released was in 2005, not only do you know nothing about music(which ironically you agree with), it seems you can't get your head around basic math, amusing. Gucci Piggy
This is embarrassing. I'm a 16 year old, huge Arctic Monkeys fan, and because of my age they've been, effectively, the biggest band of my generation. But to say they're better/more important than The Cure is ludicrous. Also, having seen both bands, I can safely say The Cure are ten times the live act Arctic Monkeys are. And yes Gparsfan, they have a shit reputation as a live act, although I enjoyed them when I saw them.
Chiefski
Dont want to really dig into the whole arguement, but in a live sense, comparing Arctic Monkeys own gigs to their festival shows, the gigs have always been better, alot livier than their festival shows. Unlike alot of bands from their period, they continue to develop (for the better imo) saying that, I'm probably one of the few people that loved Humbug. Theres no denying the influence of The Cure, but I can see why they would be a bit hit and miss to most to alot of the current generation of festival goers

Gparsfan
I can't be arsed getting involved in a catfight but half of the bands booked for T nowadays wouldn't exist if it weren't for The Cure e.g. Two-Door Cinema Club, The Drums, Vampire Weekend. Arctic Monkeys are shockingly poor live, though, and if it came to a choice of one or the other it would be The Cure for me. The Cure could play a set crammed full of hits and songs familiar to most people, whereas Arctic Monkeys only have a couple of well-known songs and they are from their first record. I am not a Cure fan, by the way and have none of their records, but I'd see them if there was noone else I wanted to see. I've seen Arctic Monkeys before at T and left early. craig94
If this is true then yeah I'd see them. Although i can already guess that if they play, during light and day people will start a sainsburys chant
