What is actually wrong with this years headliners and line up? I'm glad it's not Snow Patrol, KOL, Kasabian. Mumford and Sons got one good album and one shite, but same goes for The Stone Roses. Rihanna not my cuppa tea but she will put on a good show for those who see her. The Killers brilliant live. For the bands available out there at the moment decent line up IMO.

Low to middle is quite good in my opinion, good have been a lot worse. It is much better than last years. Too many people look at a festival line up and think about the big names. I'm looking forward to seeing the Stereophonics again, the editors, deacon blue I haven't seen them in years almost twenty. God I am old. A decent stage split and it will be a good weekend. I remember how demoralised I was with last years main announcement, it was truly shocking. Niki fucking minaj, even taking the piss out them when we forced our way to the front to see frank turner didn't make up fortune fact she was playing.....

I know a lot of the lineup has always been popular, but I think this year it's defiantly what's most popular.

I looked at a random year (T 1999) and compared it with the top 10 selling albums of 1998 and I don't believe any of the acts played.

Looking at the top 10 albums from last year and already there are 3 acts on this year's T line up (Emeli Sande, Rhianna & Mumford & Sons).

I know that this is not definite proof as I only looked at 1 random year but I think the lineup has aligned more with the charts recently than it has before.

Am I the only one that's not getting Phoenix ?

Had never heard of them so spent a bit of last night you tubing and on spotify to see what the hype was about!

I think they're pretty shite TBH

As I said am I missing something? Is there something I should be listening to that's brilliant?

It always has been, just so happens when i started going as a teenager the indie bands were awesome "britpop" so its always been mainstream and now its whats current just now, just so happens its pish aha :)

it's called "getting old".

I looked at the T line-up yesterday and what struck me is just how so very few of the names meant anything to me at all. I know the names, in nearly all cases I have no idea of any of their music.

(it might not quite be that that straightforwards; it tends to work out that I do know a lot of the music, I just don't know whose music it is).

they're one of the very bland noughties acts that noughties kids seem to like.

The best thing they've done IMO is provide samples to other people's tracks. There was a massive dance hit (in the general charts, all over the radio, etc) around 10 years back which used a sample of theirs as its base ... but I forget now the name and act of that dance tune, and I forget which Phoenix track it was (tho I have it here somewhere).

I kind of agree getting old idea. However for me its got really crap really fast. It wasnt a gradual decline of bands I wanted to see over the weekends, it went from IMO pretty solid to utter gash. Im 28 ffs not 48!! I had the money put by for tickets but im not going to spend at least £600 on a weekend for "the banter in the campsite" or on a weekend of music that have heard but do not like.

The problem is, everyones dream festival line up is somebody's elses nightmare.

If this line up was last year, I would have been happier - headliners don't matter as they were all crap last year as well. Unless of course they are clashing, then its baws.

As for Phoenix - we all have different tastes - great live band.
