Main things get one with a duel skin, single skin just wont cut it, at least a 1500mm hydrostatic head more is better though and dont spend more than about 35 quid cos honestly its a waste of money because you will probably end up leaving it there

Also pop up tents dont always cope that well but iv seen some as sturdy as a rock and some flying about with a gust of wind so its just your luck i think

For anyone looking for advice regarding tents, chairs and sleeping bags this is the post that'll set you up all year. Last two years I've bought the same tent and it's been dry as a nuns ****.

The 3 man dome tent cane be found here but I'm sure it gets cheaper. http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-3-man-dome-tent/100-8628.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=100-8628

I've used it the past two years with the outrageous weather and words can't describe how much I loved it.

For an extra fiver you can get the 4 man dome tent which is what I got for me and my girlfriend, twenty pound each and it was great. Someone earlier said to have a 2000mm hydrohastic head and that's overkill IMO, if you put up the tent correctly then nothing will get through it, the key thing (and sorry if I'm sounding patronising here) is too not have the two layers touching each other, use you guy ropes and you'll stay dry.

Last year me and my GF also pitched in a fiver each and got thie dreadful two man tent, single skinned etc, we bought it just to put all our crisps, food and drink into, more or less anything which you don't mind getting wet, leaks like nothing else. All our clothes etc we kept in our tent to keep them dry.

Tips for a TITP first timer please!

Bought tickets for TITP today, and now wondering what to do about getting to and from the event. I'm an old git and taking my daughter (16) for her first big festival experience. My last time at a festival was Reading '88!!

As I'm too old and grown-up for camping I've got a hotel booked for us in Perth. My plan, which is subject to change, is to drive to the site each day, and then head back for the hotel at the end of the night. I know the traffic will be mad, but that's the way it's got to be.

Is this a stupid plan? Will getting into/away from the site be a right bugger?

Alternatively I could do the bus thing. Is this a similarly dense idea? I know the buses get you there nice and efficiently, but do they pick up at the end of the night for those not camping on site?

If I'm totally put these plans than the last resort is to stump up the dosh and posh it out in the Residence luxury camping.

My advice is stump up the dosh for residence, or look up lethangie campsite, they run shuttle buses or its a 30min walk from T, not as many arses proper toilets and well run. Perth and buses from there i have no idea, sorry.

Hope that helps
