Been listening to some of the Big Weekend on Radio 1 today. Remember the Radio 1 Roadshow when they used to go to a beach somewhere and play "live" music that sounded like an artist in a toilet shouting along to their record being played outside? That. In spades. If that's the future of T then they can ram it. Biffy sounded ok though.

going off the big weekend coverage, kinda feel T have really missed a mark by not having Biffy this year now, they've really 'stepped up' to that level imo, enjoyed Vampire weekend, HAIM, Miles Kane. Don't know why Alt-J are getting high placings everywhere, not bad, but certainly not end of night stuff. Thought Foals were decent but would be more suited to a tent. Though they arent normally my thing quite liked the looks of Rudimental and Macklemore and Lewis too, got the crowds going.

Seen biffy three times at T and been thoroughly unimpressed each time.....sorry but it is only an opinion.....

Saw them at the secc a couple of years ago and it was very good, maybe I was just expecting too much at T.... Wasn't convinced with them in Derry either but there you have it....

I will be a proper pissed off puppy if the Stereophonics are out....

As for one direction, if they are booked someone wants to take GE out and shoot him with a massive ball of his own shit...

Biffy's last couple of albums have been pretty poor and their sets seem to be 90% comprised of those 2 albums which is rather disappointing. I'd go see them if there was nothing else on as they're a good live band but would be a pretty weak headliner imo.

I agree with everything said about Biffy here. 5 times I've seen them at T and 5 times I've felt distinctly underwhelmed. Having said that, their albums have never grabbed me either so I shouldn't be surprised. I'll probably watch them at Leeds and feel the same but I'm hoping not as I really do feel as if I should like and enjoy them. Compared to the blatantly not live music of many of the other "acts" at 1 Big Weekend though the sound was much much better. Even the Script who I've seen at T and was impressed by, sounded like they were playing along to a backing track. D O'D can sing alright, it just sounded like he was in a different venue to the rest of the band to me.

i can see why titp haven't offered them a headline slot and I'm presuming from what I've read that biffy had they been offered it would not have agreed to do reading and leeds solely as exclusives. Fact is, imo, biffy didn't look a headliner for a main fest, could pull it off at the bit smaller iow but they book the prodigy to headline who don't headline anywhere else except for finally download last year and they are loved there and they love it there. I don't see the crossover to reading being the same althou I'd rather like them and it be them than not like and it not.

Worries me that bruno could get a bump up too, he's decent enough albeit gimmicky!

But the big issue is with a headliner, to sell a fest now, u really need stadium fillers moreso as the undercard's generally don't hit the spot cause there isn't enough decent stuff out there that isn't just repeated.

I personally like titp undercard and think they've done it well this year but i understand the gripe with the headers kinda, in another sense, the rihanna booking has paid off as the the day is sold out. I think it may've been a step too far for Mumford, killers selling out most of wembley and v tickets last year can't be argued really.

But you need a band that people will imo pay £45/50 upwards on their own to see and the rest of the 25+ they'll justify throughout the day. But reading had foo's, the cure, but are Kasabian that? Albeit they were probably and I'm not even a fan the best performing headliner that weekend.

With my taste in music I should like Biffy, but I've heard bands do what they do before and better.

With the lack of rock acts at T this year, if the Stereos do pull out there will be only really Yeah Yeah Yeahs left barring the Scottish bands.

Sorry dude you lost all credibility when you said Bruno was decent :)

I sort of agree about kasabian, we saw them this year and were very impressed, but that may be due to the fact I had low expectations. We were going to watch the horrors in the transmission tent but had a last minute change of heart. We had previously seen madness when kasabian headlined and that was a great set. I am of an age where I saw the cure at the barrowlands in their pomp (1992 iirc) so I would have loved to have seen them again....
