T in the Park 2013

I think it didnt quite work for Nick Cave and NIN at T as when they put up against KOL and The Killers they were very much still the festival bands at that period, anyone put up against them two would have struggled between 08-09, if it was now I think both may have got a better crowd as alot of people who still go that were there may have outgrown them two a bit or be open to more different acts, espcially as both have been at T so many times

That KOL crowd was the quietest headline crowd I have ever seen anywhere. Flat doesn't begin to describe it. As you say, most of them only knew "sex on fire" and the rest of the set was a complete mystery to them.

T used to have an older set of regular attendees. Their absence is biting this year. If they are not catered for next year they will be gone and so will T. It'll be the secondary spend that hurts more than anything else. kids at their 1st festival don't buy much food, or beer, or merch.

Are Leeds and Reading spending an absolute fortune on advertising? I can't believe how much T must be spending this year with the biggest irony being hitting the Springsteen crowd with leaflets after telling the Scottish public that they don't actually like him enough to book him for T.

Theres some sort of anniversary they are meant to be celebrating next year, i can't remember which one, but it's meant to be tiny intimate venues as well.

I hope that T goes for Arctics, Green Day and Biffy (if DP falls through) that should be decent.

edit: or blur if they do uk fests.

Surely if Geoff Ellis was at the Springsteen gig at Hampden he would have second thoughts about booking him, demographic or not that is a professional who appeals to a wide range of ages and would pull in a large crowd even if it was just for the day

given their history at T of more recent, they go back to T and V much more than R&L. Used to be there often years back but it's all change now. There for a r year gap at Reading for The Prodigy and then a 7 year gap and they played T and V twice in that period and then also the year after Reading return.

The Prodigy could play both T and R/L it makes no difference to either festival, as for Rockness stopping or not I dont see that making much difference as the majority of acts that Rockness get either play T the year before/after
