T in the Park 2013

T has built its brand and reputation on faithful returnees every year. They all bought early bird tickets year after year and in return T put on a balanced and quality line up. This year T, without prior announcement, served up a heap of x factor rejects, crap pop acts and the Roses aside, headliners that have been at the festival several times and were very uninspiring.

T changed the game last year. I don't know of any regular T goer that bought an early bird ticket for next year so the "still go" comment isn't really valid. I've had several great Ts and would love to do so again but not if they repeat this year's fiasco.

Well there goes yet another small hope and T is getting a bit ridiculous about not announcing anyone if I'm correct its 3 weeks before tickets go on sale so hopefully they announce a headliner soon

I'd guess they'll announce an act (if they're going to) in the same week as tickets go on sale.

However, they've put tickets on sale in the run-up to xmas in other years without an act being announced, so I don't think there's any guarantee that something will be announced.

Yet more arrogance and relying on the Scottish vote to sell the festival. They're nae wise, we're not stupid. Once bitten twice shy and all that. Rock Werchter is within 7 days of T and has confirmed 5 headline strength bands whilst T expects people to pay more for their silence. They may well learn the hard way that they can no longer get away with that.

oh c'mon, that's just ridiculous.

The only way any festival wouldn't be taking the piss within that view is if every festival announced their line-ups on the same day. There is no law - not even in Scotland - which says that every festival has to work to the schedule that satisfies Devilman. ;)

T mighty announce a band or more, but it might not. You pay your money, or not, and take your choice. That's where the sensible part starts and ends.

What's ridiculous? T are expecting people to part with cash with no line up. They used to get away with that because it was such a good festival that people would return just because it was Scotland's festival. That's changed now, they put on a lazy shite line up and there is more competition both at home and further afield. If they don't name some bands soon they'll lose even more punters.

Well, they might be, we don't know yet ... for this sale, anyway.

But they expected people to part with their money with no line-up for the immediately-after-the-festival ticket sale - and people did. So T's expectations were met.

And it's an expectation very many festivals have nowadays, and it seems to work for all of them.

Just because this year's line-up disappointed you personally doesn't get to mean that everyone thought the same; I saw the crowd for Olly Murs on TV, and that gets to show, for example, that (at least some of) the acts that appalled you went down very well with a very significant chunk of the crowd.

T is what it is, and it's no different to what it's always been with presenting loads of what's popular at the moment. You don't have to like it, but to expect it to stick with your mostly-fixed tastes in the moving world of pop music is an expectation too far.

Other festivals are available for those who don't like the current pop music.

Other fests have already got my money for next year. These feet have voted. As have those of many T regulars I know, many of which have far more mainstream musical tastes than me. Not that you have a clue what I like but if it makes you happy pigeon holing people then that's fine, it's stored for future use.

Muse, Green Day, The Killers, Blur and Biffy Clyro is a pretty strong pool of bands to be picking headliners from I reckon. Getting excited to see who is announced now.

I reckon we could also see Bloc Party, Editors, Franz Ferdinand, Crystal Castles, The Gaslight Anthem, Feeder, Frightened Rabbit, Lostprophets, Modestep, Paramore, Stereophonics and We Are Scientists. Perhaps At The Drive-In and The Black Keys.

That would make my weekend very enjoyable

Stab at a lineup

Main Stage

Friday - Green Day - Stereophonics - Editors

Saturday - Muse - Biffy Clyro - Jack White

Sunday - The Killers or Blur - The Black Keys - Paramore

Radio one NME Stage

Friday - Mumford and Sons - The Vaccines

Saturday - Rihanna - Franz Ferdinand

Sunday - Plan B

King Tuts

Friday - Justice

Saturday - Bloc Party

Sunday - At The Drive-In

Appearances from Frightened Rabbit, We Are Scientists, The Gaslight Anthem and Crystal Castles lower down the bill. Jack White and The Vaccines could swap positions.

The fun one can have with an afternoon off from uni.

There are far too many real bands who play real instruments in these predictions and not enough DJs and autotune "pop" merchants. It's just not realistic. I would snap up a ticket if I thought it was anything like your prediction harryomatic, particularly if it was Blur instead of the Killers.
