Reading Sold Out

The facts are there. Leeds is a better festival than Reading.

> Extra nights entertainment

> late Night entertainment till like 6am

> We get Foo Fighters before reading.

> Extra bands

> Even the movies shown are better.

Just because its on tv and is south doesn't make it a better festival.

Reading is over rated to say the least.

Leeds all the way!

On the ticket sales front from my point of view with Leeds it's a double edged sword. Ill be happy if it doesn't sell out because there will be less people around in general and everything will be earier, less queues more space in camp, easier to get to the toilet. On the other hand if it keeps failing to sell out there is a real potential that it could be pulled as part of the r&l brand and reading would continue.

I went to download the last two years, 2011 was great 75,000 people there, not many queues, everyone friendly, lots of entertainment for all in the arena etc enjoyable, however 2012 had 100,000 or so and it seemed to loose it's charm, less entertainment due to more toilets being needed in the arena, people being herded around site, too many queues and in general just lost its charm, seemed more about the money making and I felt personally like I wasn't quite welcomed as a fan of music and rather just a cash cow, less people is therefore better for me.

There are a couple of reasons why Leeds might not be selling out as well these days.

The first being the price of the festival, it's a fact that the average wage is lower in the north when compared to the south, although the cost of living (house prices etc) is a little cheaper up here, as the price is a higher percentage of people's salary I think the price may now be hitting the tipping point in the north, where as those in the south still haven't hit there price ceiling that they would be willing to pay.

Another reason could be that festivals, or at least guitar music based music festivals are finally moving away from popular culture. As there is significantly less people in the north of England it may be more noticeable at Leeds whereas reading has a higher catchment and pool of people to lure.
