Flaminglippy
Bad news at the moment Ramragon. Friends that we've been with for the past 3 years have just pulled out, I'm entirely happy for us to do a solo trip, but the wife's after buddying up with some more friends at another fest for this year. Turmoil, so I couldn't pitch in for the early birds. I've got till February to work on her, but I'm a bit gutted at the moment. Still, off to see Half Man Half Biscuit at Newcastle Academy tonight, which should get the juices flowing ! You're not going to be in toon tonight? Flaminglippy
Glad you got tickets sorted Steve & Craig - booking fees seem a bit steep this year (only £5 per ticket for Glastonbury) - how much has it worked out for a weekend ticket, emperors field & thursday entry (inc booking fees)? If she buys one, ask if she's interested in hiring it out!! Looking at the possibility of a campervan/mobile home for Glasto but the prices from hire companies are stupid!! Flaminglippy
What a great concept, I could have palletopia , the woodland stage could be come and chop your own tree down and make a pallet! We could have the burning of the pallet stacks with ethergies of the Lancashire hot pots on. I could create my own Eco bogs ........ Long drop made out of pallets. Ramragon your a genius ! ramragon
Come on then, serious debate about possible headliners, I'm assuming it'll be a similar sort of set up to previous years in so much as a current indie band, dance / rap band and a more established decent back catalogue band. Considering the caliber of last years bookings I think there may be a line up that looks something like - Courteeners Scissor sisters Manic street preachers Pretty much covers all the bases, probably wouldn't be the most popular tihreesome on offer but each would provide an excellent set. Comfy Bean
You fancy a bit of a friendly competition ? We each choose 10 bands or groups we think will play, the one with the most bands right gets a couple of free pints off anyone else who enters. You can change your list any time until the 31st december, whoever is on your list on 31st December are your picks. The choices aren't who you want to play but who you think will play... EDIT : ^^^^^^^^^ Don`t know why the quote bit didn`t work ? but this was part of Ramragons original post. I think I broke it by cheating with more than 10 selections....sorry ! Right, just to be awkward I`m going with my squad that I will reduce to my 10 defo`s by deadline day : 1. Hot Chip 2. Madness 3. Primal Scream 4. Charlatans 5. Alabama Shakes 6. Jake Bugg 7. P.I.L. 8. Glasvegas 9. Ocean Colour Scene 10. Deacon Blue 11. Cast 12. Newton Faulkner 13. The Levellers 14. Bad Manners 15. The Big Pink 16. King Charles 17. Kassidy Edited November 15, 2012 by comfortablynumb1910

ramragon
not asctually sure how affordable the scissor sisers would be, i only opted for them after they they headlined Wickerman last year which is a similar size and groups seem to work their way around like sized festivals. Wickerman appeared to spend a majority of their budget on the top few acts with little depth in strength where as Kendal seemed to invest further down the card and spread the costs more evenly. Not saying that id want the scissor sisters to play but i will admit that they didnt play a bad set at Wickerman last year and the crowd seemed to enjoy them. ramragon
I see you 2 have plugged for the Charlatans as a possible headliner, gotta say id be fairly disappointed if they were the main act of the day, could see them in a similar position to shed seven or the inspirals this year but i wouldnt put them any higher. The last few times i saw them i really didnt enjoy the performances that much. Does anyone know what the final attendance figure was for 2012 ? everywhere i look there seems to be conflicting figures. The organisers said they wouldnt be increasing the capacity this year but would concerntrate on getting right what they had which seems sensible as throwing another 1000 or 2000 people in to the mix would create a bigger nightmare ! LOCHLAND5
i really cant see the scissor sisters............bit gay, and if they are going for a strong friday headliner on the dance/rap down with the kids thats not the band! The vaccines are playing the sands centre at carlisle in may and its not the biggest venue so its possible as long as they havnt signed some exclusive deal to play large fests only. and you know comfortablynumb said kasabian....... they are playing a fest next year called snowbombing its only for 6000 so anything is possible! i guess a lot depends on what wickerman are upto and you also have the scottish rewind fest the same weekend they could end up out bidding each other to secure decent headliners! ramragon
It's hard to imagine how the land would cope with some of the projected growth over the 5 year plan, if there were 15k this year is there space in adjacent land to make that capacity in to a possible 20k +
