Kendal Calling 2013

I always thought it would be a good idea to get comedians to festivals but I've never once taken an opportunity to see one when I've been at a festival, bands an chilling always seemed to take priority over catching them !

New years over and works back on track so hopefully we should see some movement on the festival planning and announcements, solfest put they're first one out today to remind people they're about and on this year, think a KC one will be a few weeks but it'll be on its way.

I didn't think they could trump my apathy after last years opening offers ! Discussed things with the missus and we've decided to do only kendal this year with the baby being so young, not sure how she'll take to it so pointless booking more festivals. Booked a couple of cottages for family holiday stuff, hopefully hit the festival circuit again next year. Then again my minds usually easily swayed !

Which festivals did you opt for this year Al ? You still doing bestival as well as glastonbury ? You decided to give kendal another go ? After 6 months you'll just be remembering the good times and the toilets !

Morning people, thought we could have a little discussion...

What would you like KC to do better this year? For me :

1) More experienced & helpful site staff, upon arrival last year the 'site manager' could not even tell me where the water outlets were

2) Much discussed on here...The arena mens toilets just became an absolute disgrace, needs to be sorted urgently.

3) A little more visible security around the campsites, first night last year reported lots of theft. I know its hugely difficult to stop this but having security patrolling would surely help?

Thats it for me, loved every minute of KC! So so much better than Leeds Festival.

Yeah......definitely going to Glastonbury and Camp Bestival (not Bestival)......although I'm regretting Camp Bestival slightly as I fancy Latitude following their "best family festival" award.

I'm sure i could fit in a festival in between....if only I could find one to fit.....er.....isn't Kendal Calling the weekend before Camp Bestival this year??? That could work!

I wouldn't take too much notice of those. The winner is the one that can round up the most to vote for it, rather than it being best. After all, those voting haven't been to the others to know if they're worse.

I thought that after the short list (as you say decoded by voters) the decision was down to a team of industry boffins?

who still won't have been to every fest.

Does anyone have any idea when ticket day is this year? Last year was towards the end of Feb....same timescales this year for the ones who have yet to buy?

I would imagine it'll be pretty much the same date and timescale Mick, emperors will sell out on the first morning tho, chances are you could still buy festival tickets well in to may unless they announce a stunning first line up announcement. Same goes for Thursday entry, you could buy em up to the festival start date.

If ur strapped buy ur emperors on ticket release day and buy the festival tickets when uv got the cash

I'm dropping by yours for a BBQ when they are on Steve .

All though I have heard the hotpots have priced themselves out of the line up for 2013, they have said they can't afford to pay KC the 1000 pound appearance fee this time , and asked would they consider paying their travel expenses, they also requested was it necessary that they each had to buy their own ticket .!
