Just putting it out there and I know this will never happen..I would love if Coldplay headlined subbed by Rihanna, then the next day Muse headlining subbed by Mumford. I'd die a happy man. Not in a million years but one can only hope, ha. Also how come there is hardly any rumours on V's page, I'm sure last year it was this time that Snow Patrol & The Killers were listed no?

This thread is so depressing

Dance music and pop music has the crowds dancing and singing and screaming

V festival should go all out and get a full Poppy dancy music fest: Swedish House Mafia, Example, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Rhanna, Drake, Tinie Temper - GET 2 HEADLINERS OUT OF THEM

Mumford and sons would be so boring and the rest like that

But obviously I'd like to see atleast one indie band like KOL, Killers, Coldplay

But don't get shitty bands like blur and Mumford and sons... They should go to R+L Fest

Got my ticket early, I want a good line up

Oh yeah, Chumbawumba were right "mental" - self proclaimed anarchists or not, they attracted more Atomic Kitten fans trying to be anarchistic rather than starting their own little music revolution.

Despite what they stood for - they still appealed to main stream pop fans!! I suppose it comes down to if you're just talking about their musical appeal or going far deeper into what pop music stands for.

As an 18 year old at the time, Chumbawumba to me were pop. Have never bought into the anarchy stuff....

no band can stop a song of theirs getting popular. ;)

Anarchy is nothing to be scared of, it is the heart of social progression. Without those who think differently, we would still live in a land of racists and homophobes and all the socially regressive things that so many of our current govt champion.

You're very keen to always use the dictionary definition of pop - popular - in other arguments. On those terms I don't see why Chumbawumba wouldn't be described as pop.

because nothing of what Chumbawamba were about was about shifting product. That was merely a consequence of what they were doing.

Most bands specifically aim to be popular, and so (in the broadest terms) are pop bands. There was nothing of that about the Chumbas.

Maybe (I'm not entirely convinced that the popularity of Tubthumping was merely a consequence of what they were doing), but the same could be said of a number of bands that were popular.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't describe them as pop, but neither would I describe a number of bands who have been labelled pop just because they're popular in that way either.

well, if Chumba are pop then absolutely everything is pop. ;)

What they had which nearly every other band don't is their attitude to popular. That certainly puts them in a very different place to just about every other band.
