longitude is being organised by the same promoters as oxegen, MCD

MCD are a sister company (might be a parent company, not sure) to FR, who organise latitude

I would imagine that, if they're on the same weekend, longitude is a replacement for oxegen

that's what I make of it anyway

Yeah I remember reading about it; probably the worst record of any festival.

Does Longitude actually have any association with Latitude, considering they're organised by competing promoters?

they're not really competing promoters. Well, they are for some things, but not others.

MCD essentially own 49% (the other 51% is owned by Live Nation) of Festival Republic thru MCD's parent company Gaiety. I think that MCD also still own some of DF Concerts (who run T in the Park), which is now mostly owned by Live Nation (but was mostly owned by MCD previously).

Where they do compete is with V Festival, where MCD have the largest shareholding (of 50%, I think). The smaller shareholders are promoters SJM and Metropolis with (I think) 20% each, and Branson also owning (I think) 10%.

I've had some info, but at the mo I don't know how much it can be trusted.

Having had that separate Biffy info tho means that I've put trust in it today when I'd have done some digging elsewhere otherwise.

I guess it makes sense that as Biffy become more likely for R&L Mumford become less likely, and as they become less likely for R&L they become more likely for V.

I'd have thought it'll be a more poppy headliner, Lady GaGa must be a interesting bet now. I don't think Blur would do V over Reading and Leeds.

Could be a good shout, would sell very very fast. Would sell better than eminem and biffy anyway.

I don't think it'll be KOL and Mumford, it'll be one from that pair and one from Gaga/Rihanna.

Either way they'll probably get away with both as 'English exclusives' (unless Gaga is at Glastonbury)

And I think it'll be Mumford and a choice of either Kings of Leon, Kasabian or Red Hot Chili Peppers.
