David Goody
Anyone got any ideas on who will fill the Sunday night Surprise Slot in the Big Top? Brakes have said it isn't them on Facebook but I notice that the Alabama Shakes tour dates page has them down as playing a second show at EOTR on Sunday. That could just be a late night Tipi Tent set though. Edited August 26, 2012 by David Goody
perfectpassion
Others have already said this, but it hardly seems like a big surprise, esp as they are already playing?

ElGanzo
Ya I did think Deer Tick were exactly the type of band that would play late night in the Tipi...
MaxMaz
What's the del with late night sets in the tipi? Are they announced? It's my first time.
Infinite Jest
Not officially. The band might mention that they are doing a Tipi set during their regular set. Or maybe on Twitter etc.
Yokel Again
I seem to have missed every late night set at EOTR! Go to bed too early clearly.
Christophales
you generally hear about it throughout the day, but that does lend itself to some pretty ridiculous rumours

paulwa
The only time I caught a late night set was when The Young Republic played a bunch of old 60's rock n roll songs in the Tipi a few years back, followed in the wee small hours by a Young Republic/British Sea Power... ahem... "super group" playing Jonathan Richman songs. This was announced at the end of the BSP set on the Garden Stage. It was great fun and, as it turned out, much better than seeing Jonathan Richman himself this year. I never stumbled across or heard of any others since. RedRockRick
Me too... and I've never yet caught a secret set in the woods, or at the piano stage. I always hear about these after they've happened. Edited August 28, 2012 by RedRockRick
kidpresentable
Is it worth trying to keep up with Twitter for these secret things? That said, I don't know what the 3G coverage is like round there.
MattL80
So you missed the Felice Brothers/Deer Tick/Low Anthem/Matthew Houck from Phosphorescent supergroup from 2 years ago? Now that was careless.
paulwa
You're lucky to get 2G coverage on the site, let alone 3G

Timberford
Internet connectivity is very flakey and slow but can be had. Last year I managed to load up twitter and discovered that Okkervil River were playing an acoustic set on the boat in the woods. Had I not checked, I'd have missed it... Better Late...
I've never found phone reception to be reliable, so I'll have to rely on Kind People who have it, or who have heard announcements I missed, to keep me up to date. I always seem to go to bed, having got bored with wandering around with nothing to do once the official stuff has finished and assuming nothing is happening, only to find ( as mentioned above) that in fact some of the best stuff has happened after I went to bed. And then, having gone to bed relatively early, I wake before most people and am bored and wandering aimlessly again in the morning ! Edited August 28, 2012 by Better Late... perfectpassion
Last year EOTR sent a twitter message to say Okkervil River were playing on the boat in the woods. My phone signal is always rubbish at EOTR and the battery hardly lasts 5 mins.

staffop
If you have an iPhone, turn off 3g, blue tooth, location services etc as these significantly affect battery life. Reducing brightness also helps!
