Sziget 2013

Hahah! You haven't been to Sziget yet, right? Days -3, -2, -1 and 0 are always great, regardless of the acts performing on those days. They're perfect for strolling around the festival or in Budapest, discovering the many new features at the festival, meeting a lot of random people from all over the world and partying in one of the many bars. Not having that many acts on those days also has its advantages.

What time of the year do they normally release the first tickets for Sziget?

I'm trying to think of things to get my best men at my upcoming wedding in September and one of the ideas I had was Sziget tickets and flights for 2014. Obviously, I would prefer to purchase them before my wedding.

If I am it's out of hope rather than expectation. We're all paid up and I must say I'm pretty dissappointed. At least one big rock or metal band shouldn't be too much to ask for should it? I'm not quite sure what my €200 is paying for this year.

Having said that there are a fair few bands a bit further down that I want to see (and it is Sziget after all - plenty to see and do) but I just wish there were one or two big acts to look forward to.

I'm setting off for Sziget tomorrow morning! Well, I'm going to Glastonbury tomorrow and then attempting to cycle straight from there to Sziget. It should be a journey of about 2,000 miles (I'm taking a bit of a detour to see the Tour de France on the way), and I'm doing it on my own, so currently quite nervous!

I'm raising money for the Meningitis Trust as I go, so if anyone is feeling generous and fancies sticking in a quid or two, there is a page here: https://www.justgivi...ryBudapestCycle

And I've written up a bit more about the trip here if any of you are interested: http://crawlforthemo...-tour-the-plan/

Might see you in Budapest in a few months, if I actually manage to make it there!

Just booked my tickets - whats the after hours scene like at Sziget? and if not actually on the island can anyone suggest places to go once the headliners have finished? I went to Glastonbury and really enjoyed the Shangri La area which was really good this year - is there anything that goes on all night in that vein?

Thanks in advance!
