Sziget 2013

I don't remember there being a particularly long wait between bands - but then the liberal amounts of froche I drank may have addled my perception of time! ;)

There are timetable clashes - the headliners of the main stage, A38 and The World Stage were definitely all playing at more or less the same time, although not necessarily for the same length of time.

As to the walk between stages - depends which two stages really. The main stage and A38 were virtually next door to each other this year, so would take hardly any time to walk between. The walk between, say, A38 and The World Stage would take slightly longer - maybe 5/10 minutes. On the other hand, if you wanted to walk between two stages on opposite ends of the site, say, The World Stage and The Hungarian Stage, then I suppose you may be looking at more like 20 minutes. Depends on the amount of people milling around, as well, of course!

We found it fairly easy to get to the front for the bands we particularly wanted to see. We just made sure that we arrived in good time before the band was due to start.

Don't remember seeing any long queues for transport back to the city - but we took advantage of the cheap taxis - definitely didn't see any long queues for those when we were leaving.

As to the campsite, people can pitch their tents more or less where they want to, so, by gaining access to the festival site, you have also gained access to the campsite!

The exact beer/food prices I can't remember - but they were extremely cheap!

Approximately how cheap? Like £1.50 a beer cheap, more or less? Plus, is it pints or 330mls?

From that timetable the waits between bands seem like around 40 minutes or more, which is a lot

@edfirth:

The time schedule on Main Stage has been like this for a few years now:

15:00-16:00: First act

16:30-17:30: Second act

18:00-19:15: Third act

19:45-21:00: Fourth act

21:30-23:00: Fifth act (headliner)

It's always 30 mins gaps, unless bands decide to stop earlier. At night there are no gaps between the DJs performing in the Arena and A38 Stage.

@PastCaring:

From Budapest you can take direct trains to Belgrade and Bucharest too. There's no direct train connection between Budapest and Sofia, but you can go there with a direct train from Belgrade.

@Cristall

Thanks for the info. This year we didn't really have the time to explore, but next year we'd like to spend a bit more time in the area! :)

I see that System of a Down are appearing at a couple of European festivals during August - I really hope they get booked for Sziget. Failing that, we may have to take a detour via FM4 in Austria, I think! ;)

These acts are performing at European festivals between 21 July (two weeks before Sziget) and 26 August (two weeks after Sziget) and therefore might appear at Sziget too:

And many more, but I only mentioned the acts that sound familiar to me.

Some other big festivals, including V Festival, Lowlands and Pukkelpop, didn't announce any acts yet, so there will be more rumours to come.

These acts are unlikely, because they are performing at Volt, Balaton Sound or Hegyalja, three other Hungarian festivals that usually don't share any international acts:

30 Seconds To Mars

Amon Tobin

Anti-Flag

Asking Alexandria

Between The Buried And Me

Bloody Beetroots

Bouncing Souls

Brodinski

Coal Chamber

Dada Life

Dieselboy

Dixon

Esiferum

Every Time I Die

Example

Hardwell

Jamie Woon

Justice

Queens Of The Stone Age

Reso

Scooter

Skindred

Steve Aoki

The Devil Wears Prada

And finally these acts are unlikely, because they are performing at Summersonic Festival in Japan during Sziget:

Metallica

Muse

The Stone Roses
