I've only seen Pixels and Jupiter Ascending but I imagine I will see Mortdecai soon or later.

Jupiter is just a bit dull and silly at times for a huge budget sci-fi film and Pixels is just the standard Adam Sandler shit he turns out, I only saw it as my baby brothers wanted to see it.

A trailer has been released, unannounced and kept secret during filming, of 10 Cloverfield Lane, a sort of sequel to Cloverfield.

Now to me, that is a great trailer, tells you enough about what it's about while leaving you wanting to know more.  I really liked a lot of what Cloverfield offered, even if the found footage and gawky american rich kids were clichéd to hell.  I'm certainly looking forward to seeing what JJ Abrams does with this.

hmm now that is very interesting. in the end i actually found all the marketing etc (which i followed like a hawk) for Cloverfield to be more interesting than the film itself (film was still great though). trailer doesn't give much away, but looks to me like it could be the same incident but set from other people's perspectives (maybe even some time later). will keep an eye on this one! thought a sequel was dead in the water. well done on them keeping it a secret

Imagine being the guy who runs the Razzies, waking up every morning and knowing your major contribution to the world is sneering and cynicism.

It's not even decent, well-aimed sneering and cynicism. Anybody who thinks there's anything even remotely satirical or subversive in pointing out that these sorts of films are bad can't be any older than 13.

I have infinitely more respect for an honest failure like Jupiter Ascending than I do for Oscar-bait like The Revenant.

That is possibly the nicest thing I've seen written about Jupiter Ascending.

The one positive thing I can say about Jupiter Ascending with absolute surety is that it's well intentioned. The Wachowskis don't do cynicism, they probably have the single most earnest, sympathetic and humanistic word view of any blockbuster directors in Hollywood at the moment.

Yeah The Revenant was a great watch. Cinematography statue in the bag, easy lemons.

Yeah, it looks great. Lubezki is a genius. If that film has any authorial voice holding it together it's his, nit Inarritu's. Inarritu is on his default setting: sound and fury signifying nothing.

Kind of agree with her. I wasnt mad about it. Leos Oscar nod is a bit silly too.

Did you read right to the end, Nal? I'm pretty sure I'd find the film as unenjoyable as she did, but the way she effortless segues into blaming films for Isis is amazing.

I really enjoyed it - purley as a visual experience, but I think that's okay. I wasn't emotionally invested in any of the characters, though I did think there were some good performances (not least Will Poulter). It didn't matter to me though, I watched it in 4K and was completely immersed throughout. Lubezki is a genius, he operated like no other.

Saying all that though, I won't watch it on DVD. Think it was the cinematic experience, with the UHD and surround sound which made me like it so much.
