I have a music promoter mate who lived in LA for a while in the ground floor apartment and his upstairs neighbour was Nina Simone.  On the day he was moving out she knocked on his door and said: "I know you've got a grand piano in here.  Is there any chance before you go that I could play it?"  My mate said: "Fine as long as you play I've put a spell on you for me."  So Alan sat there in his apartment and had a personal performance from Nina Simone.  Not a bad claim to fame and one he's dined out on for years.

A bit of a predictable response.  I would much rather have posted some of my favourite French pop so here's some anyway.

And this is Mr Francoise Hardy.  Apparently they are still married but don't live together.  She lives in Paris and he lives in Corsica.  Both take me back to the first time I went to France at the age of 14 on a school exchange.  Over the course of that month I discovered girls, France, wine and cigarettes - though not necessarily in that order.
