MONEY

St. Bob says get on the phone and give us your money and performing at Live Aid.  I saw him with the Boomtown Rats at Wychwood a few years ago and they were still remarkably good.

CASH

The mountain fire seems to be dying down and, hopefully, under control.  A day of digging out tree roots to extend my veg patch (well reclaim a bit that has been overgrown by the ever expanding laurel hedge).

BOOM

One of my mates from school and uni is massively into his blues and plays in a few bands (has done for years). Whilst I'm not as avid a blues fan as he is still like it. And of course from the fantastic Blues Brothers film.

BLUES

Sorry I cant find a performance video but the was the wonderful Liverpool Scene with their mickey take on the blues scene of the day. "You'd better learn some blues son because there's gonna be a boom."

John Peel was a big fan.  More info here: https://peel.fandom.com/wiki/Liverpool_Scene

MAIL This is from Harry Chapin's album Short Stories.  Beautiful and bittersweet.  Harry Chapin wrote songs which he said were about big moments in the lives of ordinary people.

CHRISTIAN

One of the finest festival bands of all time.  Great singalong anthems.  The connection is the first verse: "Well I didn't see much future when I left the Christian Brothers' School."

This track is a lovely wave your arms in the air and singalong.

Steady rain today but the mountain is still smouldering.

I did a 5 month work placement at uni out in Canada working for my cousins and this was one of the songs of that summer.

Was great time as 1 of my cousins was in a band so lots of gigs and parties.

PARTY

A memento of your parties in Canada.  Two people here Springsteen and Southside Johnny both grew up in New Jersey and ran rival bands but also occasionally played together.  A lot of the musicians moved between their bands so Southside Johnny's band The Asbury Jukes became the Springsteen second team.

TAINTED

Whilst Soft Cell is a great cover I do love a bit of Northern Soul so linking to original version.

There are 2 reasons i have heard that Soft Cell covered this song:

1) Mark Almond was big fan of Marc Bolan and Gloria Jones was a girlfriend of Bolans

2) Mark was working at the Warehouse club in Leeds in the cloakroom and heard it played at a soul night there
